What Players Should The Bills Re-sign?

We’re getting to the point in the off-season where teams will start thinking about re-signing their free agent players. The Buffalo Bills currently have 10 Free Agents that they’ll need to re-sign in the coming months. The list of Free Agents are as follows:

OL John Miller, P Matt Darr, OL Jordan Mills, OL Ryan Groy, DT Jordan Phillips, RB Taiwan Jones, TE Logan Thomas, WR Deonte Thompson, CB Lafayette Pitts, DE Eddie Yarbrough.

Players that I think the Bills should re-sign:

DT Jordan Phillips. Phillips has shown that he can be a solid role player with Buffalo, as he totaled 19 tackles, 1 fumble recovery, and 3 passes defended. Phillips has been in contract talks with the Bills & would like to get a deal done, along with most of the fanbase. Phillips has been a fan favorite as he gets the crowd on their feet during a good portion of the games. McDermott loves a good rotation on the defensive line, so this would make complete sense.

DE Eddie Yarbrough. Yarbrough is a good rotational player, but has seen limited work this season after the signing of Trent Murphy. Yarbrough totaled 29 tackles, 4 tackles for loss, and 1 QB hit during the season. It’ll be hard for Yarbrough to make the roster with Trent Murphy still on the team, but if there’s one thing Sean McDermott loves, it’s having a good rotation as I mentioned earlier.

OL John Miller. Miller is interesting. He barely got any playing time last off-season for an uncertain reason, but solidified the starting job during the season over Vladimir Ducasse. Miller didn’t have a great season, but has done enough to be a competent backup to whoever Buffalo brings in during the off-season.

Lafayette Pitts being left off this list may come as a surprise to some people since he’s a very good special teamer, but with young guys like Siran Neal making their presence felt on special teams this year, I think Buffalo would be just fine without Pitts.

While some of these players aren’t flashy signings, all of them play a part in building this team & giving them good depth at every position.

Free Agency opens on March 13th, so the Bills have until then to sign the players that they wish to. Buffalo has a total of $88.4M in cap space for the 2019 off-season, so I’d imagine that they would go big for some free agents on offense.
