Top 5 Landing Spots For Josh Rosen

Arizona Cardinals QB Josh Rosen has been in the middle of trade talks for some time now. New HC Kliff Kingsbury didn’t shy away from showing his love towards QB Kyler Murray, and I don’t blame him. Murray fits Kingsbury’s style of offense & is more of a mobile QB than Josh Rosen is. With Murray’s athleticism, he will be able to scramble out of the pocket on designed runs, when the pocket breaks down, etc. when he’s needed.

It has been reported that Arizona is looking for a first round pick for Rosen, but one GM says that the best offer Arizona could get is a 3rd round pick. With that, I will be listing my top 5 landing spots for Josh Rosen:

  1. Redskins. The Redskins fit Rosen’s style of play in terms of pocket mobility. They haven’t had a rushing QB since Robert Griffin III, and they have been able to get by perfectly fine without him. Washington currently holds the 15th pick in the 2019, and could look to shop that pick for the QB of their future.
  2. Broncos. The Broncos recently acquired QB Joe Flacco from the Baltimore Ravens in exchange for a mid round pick. But that couldn’t stop them from acquiring another QB for their future while they let Rosen sit behind Flacco and learn for a season. Denver currently holds the 10th pick in the draft.
  3. Chargers. The Chargers will be looking for a QB of the future once Phillip Rivers retires. Much like Washington, Rosen fits the Chargers scheme perfectly. The Chargers currently hold the 28th pick in the draft, which could make it hard for them to make a trade.
  4. Giants. The Giants are in desperate need of a future QB after Eli Manning leaves/retires. And that could come either via a trade for Rosen, or in one of these upcoming drafts. The Giants will probably be looking for more of a pocket QB rather than a mobile QB, so Rosen would be a very good option for the Giants. New York currently holds the 6th pick in the draft.
  5. Patriots. Tom Brady seems to have found the fountain of youth as he isn’t showing any signs of slowing down. But with that being said, the Patriots need to be planning for the future once Brady retires, and Rosen could just be that player that they need for the long run. Brady could mentor him for as long as he’s a member of the Patriots. After that, the Patriots would hand the keys over to Rosen with the hopes of him succeeding for 10-15 more years. New England currently holds the 32nd pick in the draft.

Releasing/trading Rosen would create 14.5M in dead cap for Arizona.
