One Offseason Move For All 32 Teams

Arizona Cardinals: Sign CJ Mosley

After the release of Josh Bynes, this team is desperate for a middle linebacker, especially with Deone Bucannon as a free agent. I’m not sure who will be the quarterback of this team next year, and I think either Josh Rosen or Kyler Murray have a lot of potential, but they need a quarterback of the defense, and Mosley is one of the best in the business.

Atlanta Falcons: Trade for Jordan Howard

Word on the street is that the Bears are looking to move running back Jordan Howard, and the Falcons should jump at the opportunity to add him to their backfield. They have very little cap space this offseason, which will allow Tevin Coleman to leave in free agency, and Howard would be a great partner to Devonta Freeman and take the pressure off of Matt Ryan.

Baltimore Ravens: Sign Tyrod Taylor

After the trade of Joe Flacco, the only quarterback remaining on the roster is second year quarterback Lamar Jackson. Since Jackson is definitely a work in progress and is injury prone due to his reliance on running the football, a quality backup is a very necessary signing for the Ravens, and not only does a reunion with Tyrod solve that problem, but he could be critical in the development of Jackson.

Buffalo Bills: Sign Matt Paradis

A lot of people might call me crazy for not giving the Bills a receiver here, but I think addressing the need on the offensive line is more important to the Bills. Josh Allen spent way too much time outside of the pocket last season and didn’t have time to throw the football, so they should go sign Paradis and more linemen to keep the face of their franchise healthy.

Carolina Panthers: Sign Teddy Bridgewater

With Cam Newton banged up and financially expendable after this season, signing Teddy Bridgewater to a two year deal with an easy out after this season would be a great move for Carolina. This move would put the pressure on Newton and hopefully make him shine once again and if he doesn’t, the Panthers could have Bridgewater take over in 2020 or look to a stacked quarterback draft class.

Chicago Bears: Resign Bryce Callahan

The Bears are going to have a pretty quiet offseason, since they only have about $15 million to spend and no draft picks in the first two rounds. However, they have a few pending free agents, and I believe the key guy is Callahan. He played a key role on this defense last year as a slot corner and is crucial player for them to repeat as NFC North champs.

Cincinnati Bengals: Extend A.J. Green

This one couldn’t be any easier. He’s without a doubt the best player on their team and is heading into a contract year. Whether it be Dalton or another quarterback in charge in Cincinnati in the next few years, having a star receiver like Green could only help.

Cleveland Browns: Sign Ronald Darby

The Browns have a ton of money to spend this offseason and have really high expectations for 2019. So, why not fill their need at cornerback with the best guy on the market who is only 25 years old and already has a Super Bowl ring. Darby would be the perfect compliment to Denzel Ward and would fill a major need for Cleveland.

Dallas Cowboys: Extend Demarcus Lawrence

This is a no-brainer to me. Lawrence has gone crazy the last two years, totaling 25 sacks in the past two seasons. He’s the best defensive player they’ve had in years and strikes fear in all opposing quarterbacks. Don’t let this guy play under the franchise tag. Make him a Dallas Cowboy for a long time. Extend him. Now.

Denver Broncos: Draft Drew Lock

The Broncos have been looking for a new face of the franchise for a while now, experimenting with guys like Tim Tebow and Paxton Lynch, and even having Peyton Manning fill in for the final few years of his career. Lock could be the face of the franchise with his massive arm and learn from one of the best of all time in Broncos general manager John Elway.

Detroit Lions: Sign Pierre Desir

The Lions have about $41 million to work with this offseason, but they have a few big needs to address, the most important of which is addressing the cornerback position. Desir is the perfect fit to come play alongside Darius Slay and shouldn’t completely break the bank, allowing Detroit to fill some other needs in free agency.

Green Bay Packers: Sign Golden Tate

The Packers have been slacking for the past few years, finishing under .500 in each of the last two seasons. Now, with Aaron Rodgers approaching his age 35 season, there’s only a few good years left, so go get him a fearless wide receiver in Golden Tate who can truly do it all.

Houston Texans: Sign Earl Thomas

The Texans have about $68 million to spend this offseason and have a pretty big need at safety, so Earl Thomas is the perfect fit for this AFC contender. With the addition of Thomas to go with that pass rush and Deshaun Watson throwing to a hopefully healthy receiving core, this is a team that could do some serious damage in 2019.

Indianapolis Colts: Sign Le’Veon Bell

This might come as a surprise to some people since they have a solid young backfield with Marlon Mack, Nyheim Hines, and Jordan Wilkins, but that young backfield only put them at 20th in rushing yards per game and 22nd in rushing yards per attempt last season. They have the most cap space in the league this offseason and can afford to overpay for Bell, who would likely make them Super Bowl contenders.

Jacksonville Jaguars: Sign Nick Foles

This one was fairly easy. Blake Bortles is not the quarterback this team needs, and they shouldn’t look to the draft to fill this position. Although last year was tough, they still have an incredible defense and a bright young running back. Get a quarterback who can win now in Foles and go contend with this core before it’s too late.

Kansas City Chiefs: Resign Mitch Morse

The Chiefs don’t have a ton of money to spend this offseason, but they do have one key free agent they need to retain. Morse has had four good years in Kansas City and losing him would create a gaping hole in the middle of their offensive line. A great center is very important to a quarterback, especially a young quarterback, and Patrick Mahomes needs to stay with Morse.

Los Angeles Chargers: Draft Will Grier

Let’s be honest here, Philip Rivers isn’t getting any younger. He’s approaching his age 37 season and is in a contract year. I’m not saying this should be his last year as a Charger, but using a day two pick on a potential face of the franchise like Grier, who has a very similar playing style as Rivers, would be a risk worth taking for Los Angeles.

Los Angeles Rams: Sign Anthony Barr

Despite making the Super Bowl last year, linebacker was a major weakness for the Rams. They have a bit of money to play with this offseason and are one of the most attractive destinations in the league right now. The addition of Barr, an elite inside linebacker, would be a huge pickup for Los Angeles and help them defend their NFC title.

Miami Dolphins: Trade for Josh Rosen

It looks like the days of Josh Rosen in Arizona are coming to a fast close, as they transition to potentially becoming Kliff Kingsbury and Kyler Murray’s team. With Rosen on the trade block, he could be the long term answer Miami needs at quarterback over Ryan Tannehill. Now just imagine three quarterbacks from the first ten picks of the 2018 Draft in the AFC East all trying to take down Tom Brady.

Minnesota Vikings: Trade Kyle Rudolph

The tight end market this offseason isn’t anything to be too excited about, so adding Rudolph to this mix would be a huge benefit to teams looking for an upgrade at the position. He’d be able to generate some trade value and would save the Vikings about over $7 million, helping their tight salary cap situation.

New England Patriots: Resign Stephen Gostkowski

Gostkowski, a pending free agent, has been with the Patriots for 13 seasons and is the team’s all-time leading scorer. He’s made 87.4% of the field goals in his career, including countless game winners, and is a legend in Boston. He’s the second longest tenured player on the team behind Tom Brady and should retire a New England Patriot.

New Orleans Saints: Extend Michael Thomas

The Saints don’t have a lot of money or draft picks available for this offseason, but they have over $100 million in cap space next season. Thomas, one of the top receivers in the league who’s been improving every year, is a free agent after this season, and the Saints need him catching passes to remain successful.

New York Giants: Draft Dwayne Haskins

Let’s be honest here, Eli Manning is on the decline. He’s still a smart quarterback, but his skills are diminishing and he would be the perfect mentor to Haskins, who grew up less than an hour away from MetLife Stadium. The Giants need a future at quarterback and they can’t wait any longer to find it. Eli passing the torch to Haskins sounds like a dream come true to Giants fans.

New York Jets: Trade down in the first round

The Jets gave up their second round this year in order to get their franchise guy in Sam Darnold, but now they leave him with a poor offensive line and a weak receiving core. Trading down with a team like the Giants who might want to ensure they get their quarterback or another team that wants one of the premier defensive linemen in this draft for more day two picks would be a wise move for the Jets.

Oakland Raiders: Sign Landon Collins

The Raiders have a Khalil Mack sized hole in their pass rush right now, but that can be solved with their draft capital in this insane class of defensive linemen. Mike Mayock should use some of the cap space to address the need at safety and sign the best safety on the market in Collins and have him be a young star who new fans in Las Vegas can fall in love with.

Philadelphia Eagles: Sign Ryan Fitzpatrick

After losing Nick Foles in free agency, the Eagles are going to need to fill their backup quarterback position. This is an incredibly important signing for the Eagles due to Carson Wentz’s injury history, and I think Fitzpatrick is the perfect fit because he can still play if needed and can be a great mentor to Wentz.

Pittsburgh Steelers: Sign K.J. Wright

Since the Ryan Shazier injury, Pittsburgh has been very thin at the linebacker position and can use a veteran leader like Wright. He would immediately upgrade a slacking Steelers defense and can play the tough, physical defense that Steelers fans love in order to make the most of the end of Ben Roethlisberger’s career.

San Francisco 49ers: Sign Tyrell Williams

After missing out on the Antonio Brown sweepstakes, the 49ers desperately need to find a new weapon to help out Jimmy Garoppolo as he recovers from a torn ACL. Williams is asking for a lot of money, but San Francisco is able to afford it and needs a true number one receiver, and Tyrell Williams is one of the top receivers on the market and is young enough to stay in the bay area for a while.

Seattle Seahawks: Sign Roger Saffold

Although the Seahawks offensive line has improved recently, there’s still some room to upgrade, and Saffold would be the perfect match. Both of their starting guards from last season are pending free agents, and stealing a talented linemen from the best team in your division is always a great idea.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Sign Pierre Garcon

This year is going to be Jamies Winston’s last shot, and in order to see how successful he can be with quarterback whisperer Bruce Arians, the Bucs should surround Winston with some more playmakers. Garcon, who could still put up good numbers when he’s on the field, is a good option for Winston’s development and should be able to fit in with Tampa’s financial restrictions.

Tennessee Titans: Sign Adam Humphries

Marcus Mariota has one more year under contract before he could hit the open market, so the Titans should surround him with the best weapons possible to see how well he can perform. Humphries is a reliable over the middle target who could be a great security blanket for Mariota.

Washington Redskins: Trade Brandon Scherff

Scherff is an elite guard in this league who is approaching a contract year. Since the Redskins don’t have too much money to work with this offseason, trading the Pro Bowl guard while he still has a solid amount of value would be wise. I would expect teams such as the Bills and Jets to be very interested if Scherff gets put on the trading block.
