5 Teams that could sign Al Horford

Al Horford gave the impression to the Celtics that he is leaving in free agency. A lot of teams could use his veteran presence on both sides of the ball to help their teams push for a title.

Philadelphia 76ers

The 76ers have many impending key free agents including Jimmy Butler, JJ Redick, and Tobias Harris. It will be tough to retain all of them. Horford put alongside Embiid could make one of the leagues best front-courts. That has the potential to be a deadly duo both offensively and defensively. Both are able to stretch the floor and protect the paint very well. Horford will also give that team some big veteran leadership, and also give Horford a chance to capture a championship as he gets into the twilight of his career.

Los Angeles Clippers

The Clippers have been tied a lot to Kawhi Leonard. If they fail to get Leonard, they will likely still pursue a high quality veteran free agent and Horford fixes that. Harrell comes off the bench and they ran a lot of small ball with Gallinari playing a lot of Power Foward, and Shamet playing Small Foward. Horford would give them a quality big man who has the ability to play Center in a smaller lineup that the Clippers like to run. While Harrell could continue to come off the bench and dominate opposing 2nd teams. The Clippers are a young team who do not have much veteran leadership outside of Beverley, an impending Free Agent. The Clippers won 48 games last year despite being only the 8 seed and pushed the Warriors to 6 games in round 1. They might be a high quality starter away from being championship contenders, and Al Horford is a high quality starter.

Los Angeles Lakers

There have been reports that the Lakers have interest in Al Horford. This would be really interesting. Obviously they already have Kuzma and Davis, but a guy like Horford can seriously help a lot with their defensive presence down low, something they struggled with despite Javale McGee having a good season. Kuzma will slide to 6th man which is something he has the ability and potential to thrive in. Kuzma is not a very good defender and could be that guy who gives the offense a spark off the bench. The Lakers as of now do not have much from their second unit, especially if they get a max Free Agent. Horford making the start instead of Kuzma, will make one of the best defensive front courts in the league, and give the Lakers a great 6th man since Kuzma would be there now.

San Antonio Spurs

Al Horford would fit in well on the Spurs. It would allow Aldridge to move to his natural 4 position. The Spurs play with a lot of ball movement, and Horford would be a great addition in that style of offense. Horford is a terrific play maker to go along with his defense. He is also a smart player that Gregg Poppovich would utilize extremely well. This signing would help the Spurs get back on top of the Western Conference where they once were. It would give them their best bigman duo since Tim Duncan and David Robinson. The Spurs are a team who should really consider pursuing Horford.

New Orleans Pelicans

The Pelicans might have one of the most promising futures in sports after the Anthony Davis trade. They have so many young prospects with, Lonzo Ball, Josh Hart, Brandon Ingram, they just drafted Jaxson Hayes, Nickeil Alexander-Walker and of course Zion Williamson. Adding a veteran like Al Horford would be a nice addition to help this young team grow and still be able to compete. The Pelicans could use a veteran bigman to help them compete next season despite being so young. The West is wide open and Horford, along with Jrue Holiday, would be a good veteran duo that has the potential to help this young team reach their full potential while also winning games in 2019-20 and beyond.
