Predicting The Matchup and Winner of Each Power Five Conference

ACC: Clemson vs Virginia Tech

Trevor Lawrence proved that he is an elite quarterback last year and that he is here to take Clemson back to the ACC championship for the fourth year in a row. Behind Lawrence, All-American running back Travis Etienne as well as wide receivers Tee Higgins and Justyn Ross are major threats toward opponents. Along with Clemson’s superstar offense, they have an extremely solid defensive unit. The only threat in Clemson’s way is Syracuse. The orange, in recent years, has caused problems for the tigers. Playing against Clemson, I believe that Virginia Tech will surprise a lot of people and have a great season. Last season didn’t go as planned for the Hokies, but this year, with a fairly easy schedule, I think that VT will end up with a 10-2 season with losses coming from Miami and Notre Dame. In the championship game between Clemson and Virginia Tech, Clemson will come out as the 2019 ACC champions.

Big 12: Oklahoma vs Texas

Jalen Hurts recently transferred from Alabama and should be terrific this year for the Sooners. Hurts joins a fantastic offense with star wideout CeeDee Lamb as well as running backs Kennedy Brooks and Trey Sermon. Although Oklahoma has a new defensive coordinator, the Sooners should be well adjusted on the defensive side of the ball after the first few games and then cruise to the Big 12 championship game. Texas, on the other hand, has a very successful offense and only two tough games this year. Sam Ehlinger will take the Longhorns to the Big 12 Championship game where they will face a tough Oklahoma team. Ultimately, Oklahoma will come out as the Big 12 champions.

Big 10: Ohio State vs Wisconsin

Although Ohio State has a new coach and a new quarterback, the offense should still be very productive. Surrounding Justin Fields the Buckeyes have K.J Hill, Chris Olave, and the spectacular J.K Dobbins. If this offense can find its rhythm, they can go undefeated this year. The Ohio State defense should be elite which makes them an even harder team to defeat. Although Wisconsin has had some quarterback issues, the badgers have a pretty easy schedule besides Michigan and Ohio State. I don’t think that anyone in the Big 10 West will have the ability to take down the badgers, leaving them to face the Buckeyes in the conference championship game. I believe that the Ohio State Buckeyes will come out as the Big 10 champions.

Pac-12: Oregon vs Arizona State

The Oregon Ducks have a very experienced team with senior QB Justin Herbert along with his well-developed offensive line. The defense has gotten stronger which makes Oregon a threat to opponents. Although they have a difficult schedule, I think that this extremely experienced team can overcome tough threats and make it to the Pac-12 championship game. Arizona State has one big threat that can make or break the chance to play in this championship game. If they can defeat Utah, I think they will have a clear path to the Pac-12 championship game. With Eno Benjamin in the backfield, ASU is bound to win between 10 and 12 games this season. Although I think ASU will make the Pac-12 championship, I don’t think they will win the Pac-12. Instead, the Oregon Ducks will come out as the Pac-12 champions.

SEC: Alabama vs Florida

Alabama has continuously proved to college football that they have what it takes to win the SEC. Alabamas defense continues be amazing even with players leaving to go pro. Tua, who is a Heisman Trophy contender, will have another dominant season and will lead the Crimson Tide to the SEC championship game. Tua has a great offense alongside him with two 5 star running backs and very talented wide receivers. Nick Saban continues to be a dominant coach and his team will show it during the season. Florida made a bit of a comeback last season under Dan Mullen’s first year coaching the Gators. This year Mullen hopes to improve QB Feleipe Franks which will boost the offense. The Gators should have 10 or 11 wins and face Alabama in the championship game. Overall, I think Alabama will come out as the SEC champions.
