Oakland Raiders WR Antonio Brown is arguably one of the leagues best receivers. But with that comes his personality that has:
- Had him shipped off from the Pittsburgh Steelers
- Cost him over 53k in fines
- An incident with GM Mike Mayock
The list can go on and on. As previously mentioned before, there’s no questioning his play on the field, he’s totaled 837 receptions, 11,207 yards, 74 TDs, along with 7 Pro Bowl nominations, 4 First team All-Pro nominations, 2x NFL receiving yards leader, and NFL receiving TD leader.
Recently there’s been reports that Brown got into a huge argument with GM Mike Mayock over a $53k fine for missing training camp practices. To go along with that are multiple other incidents, including the way he handled his Steelers trade, his helmet issue, and his foot problem.
Is Brown just misunderstood? Or is he being a “diva” like the media projects him to be? Brown has a nice thing going for him. He’s got a fresh start on a new team that respects him from management down to the players. He needs to cherish this opportunity to clear his name. IF Brown can get back on the right tack, he can be one of the best receivers in the league.
Some people think these issues are due to CTE from the Vontaze Burfict hit (now teammates) that he received in 2016. Now that may be true, but we may never know the cause of these antics. But, whatever is going on needs to be fixed before more headaches come of this possibly ruins his career wit the Raiders, and his legacy.
The Raiders ultimately voided Browns’ $30M in guaranteed money, and unsurprisingly released Brown. Brown should be able to find a new home fairly quickly, but it might be a couple weeks into the season before he signs with a team.
