The Arizona Cardinals drafted Kyler Murray 1st overall in 2019 and shipped their previous QB, Josh Rosen, drafted 10th overall to the Miami Dolphins. Has he been playing well this season, however? Let us find out.
After a fairly decent preseason, Kyler Murray came off of a rough 1st half against the Detroit Lions in his NFL debut. Kyler Murray then led the Cardinals to a comeback, from down 17-3, tying the game for OT at 24-24. Sadly, the game ended in a 27-27 tie, but Murray went 29/54 for 308 yards, 2 TDs and 1 INT.
Week 2, against Baltimore, the Cardinals fell short by 6 points in a 17-23 loss. Kyler Murray had 25 completions out of 40 pass attempts for 349 yards.
In Week 3, with the Panthers win over Arizona 38-20, Kyler Murray went 30/43 and only 173 yards with 2 TDs and 2 INTs to go along with 8 rushes for 69 yards. Week 4, Murray had 22/32 and 241 yards passing to go along with 1 INT in the 27-10 loss vs. Seattle.
Week 5, versus Cincinnati, Murray went 20/32 with 253 yards to go with 10 rushes for 93 yards and a touchdown. The Cardinals won that game 26-23.
In the Week 6 game vs. Atlanta, Murray has gone 27/37 for 340 yards with 3 TD’s, leading the team to victory with a score of 34-33.

Kyler has 7 TDs and 4 INTs in his 1st 6 games on a Cardinals squad that has struggled with the o-line. Daniel Jones only seems to play well against weaker defenses and Dwayne Haskins is not ready. It is safe to say this is the best pick. Kliff Kingsbury went heavy for him, trading away their former 1st round QB and going for a signal-caller that he has worked with. To bring out the best in him, they would need to apply more targets to throw to for the future with the decline of Larry Fitzgerald and the underwhelming performance of Andy Isabella. Kyler Murray has been off to a good start, however, he would have to prove more in order for him to get noticed as a leader in the race for offensive rookie of the year.
