The 5 Best Free Agents Entering Free Agency & Where They Land.

With the off-season upon us, teams will start resigning their Free Agents & fill out their Free Agency wishlists. Teams can start contacting & negotiating with other free agents beginning on March 16th, and Free Agency opens up on March 18th. With that, here are our 5 biggest free agents, and where they could sign.

1. Drew Brees (Saints). Drew Brees has stated that it’s not “if” he re-signs with the New Orleans Saints, but a matter of “when” he signs with the team. Drew Brees has spent the last 14 years with New Orleans after leaving the then San Diego Chargers.

Brees is coming off a 2 year/$50M contract from the Saints, in which he signed March 13th of 2018. He recently lead the Saints team to the Wildcard round, which they lost against the Minnesota Vikings in OT. I would expect another 1 or 2 year contract for Brees before he rides off into the sunset.

2. Tom Brady (Raiders). Reports have recently come out that the Las Vegas Raiders would be a suitor for Tom Brady if he indeed decides to leave the New England Patriots. While it’s hard for some people to see Brady walking away from the Patriots, if it’ll ever happen, this offseason would be the time to do so.

As many know, Brady packed up, sold his Boston residence and moved elsewhere. If Brady decides to keep playing next season, the Raiders would be an interesting option. Vegas is a nice retirement spot for somebody who’s about to ride off into the sunset, and it would help the team sell tickets in their new stadium.

3. Chris Jones (Chiefs). Jones is a fantastic DL for the Kansas City Chiefs, and a huge part of the defense’s success late in the season. Jones totaled 36 tackles, 9 sacks, and 20 QB Hits in 13 games in 2019. The Chiefs need to make re-signing Chris Jones one of their biggest priorities this off-season, with a projected $16M cap space. Jones will likely demand a good chunk of money. However, the Chiefs still should do whatever it takes to pay him.

4. Amari Cooper (Cowboys). The Dallas Cowboys will have to pay Dak Prescott a pretty hefty contract, but that shouldn’t mean that Cooper is for sure leaving Dallas, It was just reported that Dallas will not be bringing Robert Quinn back for next season, which will give the team extra cap space to bring back Cooper as well. Cooper totaled 1,189 yards & 8 TDs on 79 receptions during the season. Despite a bit of a drop problem over the season, Cooper is still a top receiver in the game and will get paid like it.

5. Jadeveon Clowney (Bills). After losing Lorenzo Alexander this off-season, the Bills will need to look into finding another starter at LB/edge. and with his pass rush skills, Clowney would be a great option for a young team on the rise. Clowney said that he’s “eyeing a Super Bowl contender” for his next team, but with the Bills cap space, it would make a tough decision for Clowney to make.

HM: Chris Harris Jr (Chiefs). Chris Jones has played like a great corner since he’s been in the league. Denver gave Harris a 1 year/$12M deal last year, and totaled 56 tackles & 1 INT. Harris was a part of trade talks before the deadline, so a return to Denver would be unlikely. Meanwhile, the Chiefs, despite having a good defense late in the season/into the playoffs, could use another corner to go along with Bashaud Breeland & Kendall Fuller; barring one of them leaving in Free Agency.

.HM: AJ Green (Bengals) Green missed all of the 2019 season due to torn ligaments in his ankle. Green has mentioned that he would like to stay as a Cincinnati Bengal beyond this year, even though the team is in a rebuilding faze. Green would be a huge weapon for whatever QB they draft (Burrow) in April, and would be great for another young weapon, if they so please to bring another receiver in.
