The Most Disappointing Teams During The NFL Season

This season, the Kansas City Chiefs took home the Lombardi Trophy as they beat the 49ers by a score of 31-20. This season was highlighted by some of Mahomes magic, Lamar’s ankle breakers, Christian McCaffrey’s high fantasy points and even more. There were many surprises this season like the the sudden rise of the Titans. But, there were some other teams that did not perform up to expectations. These 5 teams were the biggest disappointments of the NFL season.

Honorable Mentions: Falcons, Eagles, Panthers

5. Chicago Bears

Record: 8-8

Just a year after the Bears had the best defense in the game and went 12-4, they didn’t even make the playoffs. An 8-8 record isn’t the worst in the NFL, but it was quite disappointing due to the high expectations going into the season. Going into this offseason, there will be many questions surrounding Mitch Trubisky. This season, he only managed to throw 17 touchdowns while throwing 10 interceptions. Many people say that Tom Brady could possibly be a target, but I don’t see this happening. The Besrs defense is there, all they need is a good offense and they could be back to the playoffs next year.

4. LA Chargers

Record: 5-11

Just like the Chicago Bears, the LA Chargers had a terrible year after they went 12-4 in 2018. Phillip Rivers had a tough season, throwing for 20 interceptions. Melvin Gordan had an extended holdout, and then many of the key defensive players were injured such as Derwin James. On the bright side, Autin Ekeler had a tremendous year even though he was given less touches than Melvin Gordan near the end of the season. Going into the offseason, the Chargers need to address their quarterback situation. Rivers is likely out, so they need to find their man.

3. Cleveland Browns

Record: 6-10

Although the Cleveland Browns had not made the playoffs in years, it looked bright for them. They had just gotten OBJ and Kareem Hunt to go with Jarvis Landry and Nick Chubb. They also had a good quarterback at the helms, which had not been the case in years. Then everything went downhill from there. Outside of an early win against the Ravens, the Browns continued to disappoint and so did OBJ. Odell finished the season with 4 touchdowns, which was tied for 67th this season. It looks like the Browns might be back at square-one.

2. LA Rams

Record: 9-7

In 2018, the Rams were so close to winning the Super Bowl against the New England Patriots. In 2019, the Rams could not even make the playoffs. After a 3-0 start to the season, the Rams went 6-7 to finish off . Todd Gurley had limited use and Jared Goff had a lot of inconsistency. On the bright side, the Rams managed to get Jalen Ramsey on their defense.

1. Dallas Cowboys

Record: 8-8

Although the Rams struggled after they made the Super Bowl, the Cowboys still managed to be the most disappointing team this season. If you look at their roster on paper, they have one of the most talented teams in the NFL. Ezekiel Elliott, Amari Cooper, Dak Prescott, and their stellar defense.

Somehow, things didn’t go right for the Cowboys and they managed to miss the playoffs. It’s also important to note that they were arguably in the worst division in the league and could not even win it. Things look good for next season with the firing of Jason Garrett, but with the Cowboys, who knows?.
