The first day of the 2020 NFL Draft has come and gone, and unsurprisingly, the Cincinnati Bengals selected Joe Burrow #1 overall. This pick has been unofficial for weeks, maybe even months, and now it is finally official.
Round 1, Pick 1: Joe Burrow, QB, LSU
Instant Grade: A+
Joe Burrow is a slam dunk pick in any draft class. He is undoubtedly one of the best QB prospects to ever come out and Cincinnati made the right move by staying put and getting their franchise guy. Burrow also comes back home, as he is an Ohio native. He gets to prove he is the real deal by helping the Bengals rebound from a 2-14 season and the team gets one of the most talented college prospects we’ve seen in a while. This pick is a win for both sides.
Day 1 Grade: A
The Bengals made the perfect pick, getting their franchise quarterback. The only reason the overall day grade is not an A+ is because they could have traded back into the first round to pick more premier talent, specifically at linebacker or wide receiver. Beyond that, there’s really not much else they could have done. This was a good day for Bengals fans.
