The Redskins are expected to finish as one of the worst teams in football this season, especially coming off a 3-13 season. However, with the acquisitions they’ve added this off-season, I feel they are going to surprise many around the league, which is why they have zero scheduled primetime games, so no more Monday or Thursday night woes (besides Thanksgiving).
I like to think of the NFL season as 4 small parts, or going “month by month”.

Week 1-4: The Redskins’ first 4 games are vs. Philly, at Arizona, at Cleveland, and against Baltimore. I believe Washington can come out of the gate 3-1, but they can also lay a goose egg and go winless. I think they can compete with Arizona and possibly take that game early with their dominant defensive line. Philly and Cleveland will come down to them simply forcing their opponents to make mistakes and capitalizing on them. I think the game against Baltimore will be close for the first quarter, but the Ravens will pull away because they simply have a better roster.

Week 5-9: This could be where the Redskins get some wins versus teams with high expectations. The next four games go: LA Rams, at NY Giants, Dallas, a Week 8 bye week, and then NY Giants again. I think they’ll sweep the Giants this year, as the Redskins have a better roster and a more proven coaching staff. The Rams have a lot of high caliber pieces like Aaron Donald and Jalen Ramsey, but not much depth. They also play Dallas, who they’ve beaten once since 2016. This is where they can let steal wins, or simply let them slip away.

Week 10-14: This is a day and night. The Redskins start off with two of the worst teams last season, at Detroit and against Cincinnati. Those are games that Washington can win, and they SHOULD win. Them going 3-0 in that stretch, including the Giants win, is very, very realistic, but their schedule also gets brutal very, very fast. At Dallas on Thanksgiving, at Pittsburgh, and then at the defending NFC champion San Francisco 49ers. They are very likely to lose all of these games, as the strength of schedule ramps up quickly.

Week 15-17: They end the season facing off against Seattle, Carolina, and Philadelphia. Seattle and Philly are playoff teams in my eyes, so I think they’re in playoff mode, trying to potentially lock up their division. I think Ron Rivera will go into Carolina and embarrass Carolina in a “revenge game” for his firing last season, and I think the Redskins are a better team.

Washington more than doubling their wins from the year before is a huge step in the right direction. I think this team has the potential to do this, especially with the way their defense is shaping up to be. Dwayne Haskins has the potential to cement himself as the team’s franchises QB, going into 2021 with a successful recipe.
