The NFL has been full of amazing talent over the season, and especially on offense. A lot of great young rookies have emerged at just the right time to lead their teams to the playoffs, while some have improved at a rapid rate to solidify their team. A lot of fans and people around the league have gone back and forth on who should win MVP, and it seems to change every other week.
MVP: Aaron Rodgers, QB Green Bay Packers.
This race is closer than people think, and a lot of other guys are also deserving. But, Rodgers continues to show he’s one of the best QBs in football all-time, and currently. What Rodgers is doing at 37 years old with the little weapons he has around him is incredible. He has totaled 4,059 passing yards, 44 TDs, and 5 INTs this season while throwing to (outside of Davante Adams), Marquez Valdez-Scantling, Allen Lazard, and Equanimeous St. Brown. Rodgers has shown the Packers organization how big of a mistake they made drafting his replacement in the first round, and doesn’t plan on giving up the starting job anytime soon.
OPOY: Stefon Diggs, WR, Buffalo Bills.
The Bills trade for Stefon Diggs this year may have been the best trade of the 2020 off-season. Diggs has been nothing short of stellar for Buffalo this season, totaling 120 receptions for 1,459 yards & 8 TDs, 3 of which came in their victory over the New England Patriots. Diggs has been a massive piece in the development of Josh Allen, and the drastic improvement from the offense, which should at the very least put him in the discussion for this award.
DPOY: Xavien Howard, CB, Miami Dolphins
A lot of people go back and forth on who should win this award, but in all honesty it should be Xavien Howard without question. Howard has been a lock down corner this year. Making his case for All-Pro honors, Howard has allowed the lowest passer rating in the league (50.3%), while also adding 9 INTs and 16 passing defensed to his resume.
DROY: Chase Young, DE, Washington Football Team
I’m not sure if this comes as a shock to anyone, but Chase Young is a baller. If there has been one bright spot on a team full of disaster this year, it’s Chase Young. So far this season, he has been a force to be reckoned with this season, totaling 4 forced fumbles, 6.5 sacks, and 9 QB hits. To nobody’s surprise, Young has proven why the Washington team with no name made the right selection.
OROY: Justin Jefferson, WR, Minnesota Vikings
Adding onto Diggs, we haven’t seen a trade work out this well for each team ever. Justin Jefferson is passing all-time greats in rookie receiving yards with 1,267 yards, while adding 7 TDs as well. Jefferson has stepped in and filled Diggs’ role tremendously without skipping a beat. He needs just 47 more yards to break Randy Moss’ record for most receiving yards by a rookie. With 1 game left, Jefferson should get that.
COTY: Brian Flores, Miami Dolphins
Flores has done a tremendous job with the Dolphins this year. Taking them from a 5-11 rebuilding team a year ago to 2nd place in the AFCE fighting for a playoff spot the following year. All while owning two first round picks, including one in the top five. You just have to give a round of applause to this man for the way he’s built his roster & the direction it’s headed in.
CBPOY: Alex Smith, Washington Football team.
They need to name this award after Alex Smith. Can somebody make a petition for that? How he’s come back from 17 leg surgeries & almost having his leg amputated to playing NFL football again is amazing in itself. Smith just walking onto a football field is a miracle in itself, but actually playing the game is that much more special.
