Just How Good Has Jaylen Brown Been So Far This Season?

It’s no secret Jaylen Brown is off to a great start in the 2020-2021 season and has played a key role in the Celtics’ success this season. But just how good has J.B. been for the Celtics?

Brown is averaging 27.3 ppg and has 8 straight games with 20+ points this season. He has also scored 20+ in 14 out of 16 total games this season, including a 33 point game in just 19 minutes against the Cavaliers. That is the most points scored while playing fewer than 20 minutes.

Brown is seeing new career highs in points per game (27.3), field goal percentage (.528), assists (3.4), steals (1.5), and three-point percentage (.438). His impressive play has not gone unnoticed. Following the Celtics 141-103 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers head coach Brad Stevens said “Jaylen’s obviously a huge bright spot [of the season]”.

Marcus Smart followed up Coach Steven’s comments saying “He’s one of the best young players in the game… I’m very proud of him”

Brown even gained recognition from Celtics’ Bill Russell.

J.B. was also declared an elite scorer by the one and only Kendrick Perkins.

Brown currently ranks 4th in points per 100 possessions behind just Bradley Beal, Joel Embid, and Kevin Durant. J.B. has without a doubt been the MVP for the Celtics so far this season, and his sudden emergence as a star has changed the outlook of the Celtics as a whole.

Brown has made a very strong case for his first All-Star appearance, while also making a strong case for MIP.
