Carson Wentz’s New Home

Once again, a quarterback is on the move. The news came in from Adam Schefter yesterday that Carson Wentz is heading to the Indianapolis Colts. So the Eagles are sending Wentz there in exchange for a 2021 third-round pick and a conditional 2022 second-round pick that can turn into a first-rounder. The former Eagles quarterback has wanted out of Philadelphia ever since their season ended. Now, he gets his wish. Let’s access how this trade affects both parties.

Colts Get What They Need, But Will it Work?

The Colts haven’t been stable at the quarterback position since Andrew Luck retired. They had a below average year with Jacoby Brissett and a one year fix with Philip Rivers who just recently retired. So trading for Carson Wentz can be just what they need to contend for the Super Bowl. There’s only one problem. Carson Wentz was one of the worst quarterbacks in the league this past year. He didn’t have much help of course but he was atrocious. It didn’t help his case when the rookie Jalen Hurts replaced him and was able to lead the offense. Before this past season however, he was an elite quarterback. That’s why people still have confidence in him. He has shown how talented he is, but where did that all go this previous season? Hopefully the Colts will be a better fit for him, with their talented roster and great staff. We’ll see how it unfolds.

The Jalen Hurts Era

With Wentz gone, the Philadelphia Eagles will now rely on Jalen Hurts. He was their 2020 second-round draft pick. He stayed on the bench for practically the whole season until week 13. Not much was expected during his starts but he actually did quite well. He wasn’t perfect by any means but he gave the offense a spark that they were missing all season. Now that he’s officially the guy, Eagles fans should be excited about their young, talented quarterback.

This quarterback trade is just the beginning of what will be an eventful offseason. Many quarterbacks will be on the move. Carson Wentz was destined to be traded and many predicted that he’d land in Indianapolis. The Colts are taking a gamble here. Hopefully it pays off and Wentz will go back to being the talented quarterback that we’re used to watching. Get ready for more trades…
