Kyle Pitts Scouting Report

If there is a tight end who is a consensus top five player in the draft, he must be special and unique. We may never have seen a tight end quite like Pitts in the history of the National Football League. He is a dominant offensive weapon who catches every single football thrown his way. Pitts embarrassed the best of the best in the SEC week in and week out and is ready to do the same in the pros.

College: Florida

Position: Tight End

Number: #84

Height: 6’6″

Weight: 246 lbs

2019 Stats: 13 games played/54 receptions/649 receiving yards/5 receiving touchdowns/12 yards per reception

2020 Stats: 8 games played/43 receptions/770 receiving yards/12 receiving touchdowns/17.9 yards per reception

STRENGTHS

1.It doesn’t matter who the linebacker, who the safety, or who the cornerback, Kyle Pitts will physically dominate every defender he sees and will make the catch. His physicality at the catch point is a form of art. Pitts is a 6’6″ monster and he uses all that size to box out defenders on a consistent basis.

2. Pitts runs routes better than most receivers in this draft and creates great seperation while doing so. He sinks his hips into his breaks and has a great variety of releases in his arsenal. It’s fun to watch him beat every defender a defensive coordinator can throw at him before he even catches the ball and his route running is a big reason why.

3.At his pro day, Pitts ran a 4.44u forty yard dash. That time is undoubtably one of the fastest by a tight end and is an objectively fast time regardless of position. His long speed is a struggle to keep up with for most corners and makes his run after catch ability better than most tight ends currently in the NFL.

WEAKNESS

1.Kyle Pitts suffered a concussion and a broken nose against Georgia that knocked him out for a few games so thats a concern…kind of. I really had to dig deep to find a flaw but the guy plays a near perfect game.

CONCLUSION

Kyle Pitts could possibly be one of the greatest tight ends of all time. He has that kind of talent. Pitts is worth every bit of a top five pick and will transform any offense he joins. No one was able to cover him in college and the same will be true about the NFL. He is just a polished physical specimen like we have never seen before. Positional value doesn’t play in here because he his positionless.

Pro Comparison: Darren Waller/Jonnu Smith/No one does him justice
