Alijah Vera-Tucker- Tackle or Guard?

AVT is a beast of an offensive lineman and has some great film from USC through his career. He’s got tape at both tackle and guard and there seems to be a bit of a debate as to which will be his place of best fit. The truth is, he can play both positions in the NFL but let’s determine where a team can get the most out of him. The first thing to do is to look at his measurables. AVT is 6’5″ 315 lbs, so great size for both positions. He also ran a 5.10u forty yard dash. So his speed is best for the guard position but could service at the tackle position. The thing that really tells the tale for Vera-Tucker is his 32 1/8 inch long arms. Those arms tell me that he’ll be a guard on most draft boards. His tape is best from the guard position but due to his experience, a team would be wrong to experiment with him all over the line. All in all, AVT is a true people mover who will be above-average from any spot on the line and projects best for a gap or power run blocking scheme. His pass protection is very NFL ready and his run blocking is polished enough for him to start day one.
