The Buffalo Bills are coming off a season that a lot of fans haven’t seen in over 20 years. Buffalo went 13-3 with an AFCCG exit that was lead by MVP runner up Josh Allen & Stefon Diggs. Allen had a historic year, totaling 4,577 yards, 37 TDs, and 10 INTs on a 69% completion percentage. Since then, Allen received a 6 year/$258M extension. The Bills added to an already deep WR room this year with Emmanuel Sanders mixed in with Gabe Davis, Stefon Diggs, and Cole Beasley as the top 4 receivers.
Additions:
Greg Rousseau, Carlos Basham, Emmanuel Sanders, Matt Breida, Efe Obada, Spencer Brown, Mitchell Trubisky. Rousseau & Epenesa will look to have a big impact on the pass rush this year, with Basham rotating in. Trubisky looks to jumpstart his career in Buffalo, and provides good injury insurance to Allen in case of an unfortunate injury.
Losses:
John Brown, Andre Roberts (Houston Texans), Ty Nsekhe (Dallas Cowboys), Trent Murphy, Tyler Kroft (New York Jets), TJ Yeldon. Replacing Brown with Emmanuel Sanders makes the blow a little smaller. Buffalo has seemed to replace Roberts with Isaiah McKenzie & Marquez Stevenson at returner.
Overview:
The Bills added a few key pieces to a championship team, and the only way to beat the Kansas City Chiefs is a good pass rush. With Greg Rousseau coming along nicely this summer, and AJ Epenesa looking like he’ll take a step forward, the Bills could realistically get back to the pass rush that they used to have. The addition of Emmanuel Sanders brings a good veteran presence to the WR room, and will step into a starting role nicely in case of someone going down due to injury. Buffalo could easily have a top 10 WR unit this year if it continues to improve dramatically like last year.
Season prediction:
The Bills will give the Chiefs some tough matchups this year, and should win the AFCE. If the Bills can improve from last year (and I think they can), the sky is the limit, and they could be able to beat the Chiefs in the playoffs. Devin Singletary looked like an improved man this summer. In the limited snaps he got in the preseason, he looked explosive & was hitting holes with more speed than we saw in 2020. The Bills added to the 2 positions they were weakest at, pass rush & OL (Spencer Brown & Tommy Doyle). Should Buffalo move on from Darryl Williams in the future, which is not that far fetched, Spencer Brown should be able to move in and do a better job.
