Rumours about the Goat retiring have been running rampant since the playoffs started. Heading into postseason, the Buccaneers and Packers were the two favourites to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl. Many people wondering if after this potential ring, Brady would consider hanging up his cleats.
After their loss to the Rams to eliminate the Bucs, these rumours gained more fuel. Especially after Brady made an appearance on the Letās Go podcast, telling Jim Gray:
āI said this a few years ago, itās what relationships are all about. Itās not always what I want. Itās what we want as a family. And Iām gonna spend a lot of time with them and figure out in the future whatās next.ā
Saying of his wife:
āIt pains her to see me get hit out there. And she deserves what she needs from me as a husband, and my kids deserve what they need from me as a dad.ā
And now, it seems that only an announcement is needed from the 44-year-old quarterback. CBS news have reported that several sources in Bradyās inner circle are convinced heās calling it a day. Along with Bradyās comments, this could very well be the end of his illustrious careers.
The changes in NFL rules in the past year have put Brady in the spotlight, expressing his love of the game and why the changes put a damper on the sport. So, I donāt see him making saying anything during Super Bowl week and waiting until after can have repercussions on the Bucs, especially with the potential $32M in dead cap. The announcement, if itās indeed coming, will definitely be within the next week.
Finishing his career with a ring would have been very Brady-esque, but a potential MVP would also be good. Either way, the coming week(s) are sure to fun.
