Buffalo Bills: From Worst to SB Contender

The Buffalo Bills have shocked a lot of people around the league with how they’ve been playing this year, most notably Josh Allen’s improvement from last year. But it didn’t come easy. Owners Terry & Kim Pegula fought hard to get the Bills where they are now, including the hiring of GM Brandon Beane & HC Sean McDermott. But there’s still more work to be done.

The Bills took their 2018 offense from

Andre Holmes, Kelvin Benjamin, Zay Jones, and Jason Croom

To

Stefon Diggs, John Brown, Cole Beasley, and Devin Singletary

Some call this the Brandon Beane magic, and they may be right. How he’s hit on Free Agents, draft prospects, and even coaches has been terrific. The Diggs trade caught everybody around the league by surprise, especially Bills fans. Stefon Diggs has been a phenomenal for Buffalo this year, totaling 100 receptions for 1,167 yards and 5 TDs, with his best game coming against the Dolphins where he hauled in 8 receptions 153 yards, and 1 TD.

Cole Beasley has been a hidden gem for Buffalo. Since coming here in 2019, Beasley has been one of Allen’s favorite, and most reliable targets. In 2 years with the Bills, he has totaled 1,616 yards, and 10 TDs on 138 receptions. As we come down to the late season stretch, and in the playoffs, Beasley will be a huge factor in this offense.

A couple things you would take away from this Buffalo rebuild is (1) How efficiently they did it and (2) how great their scouting department is. They have found many diamonds in the rough, including Gabriel Davis, Devin Singletary, Darryl Johnson, and Levi Wallace. Davis has improved steadily as the season has gone on, with Levi Wallace carving out a starting role at corner, and Darryl Johnson solidifying a nice role on special teams. You have to hand it to their scouts for that.

For the future, Buffalo needs to improve on a couple positions. Those including TE, OG, CB, and pass rush. If Buffalo can fill out 1-2 of those positions after the season, they’ll look like a much more complete team & would be guaranteed to compete in the playoffs.
