It may take some getting used to for Bills Mafia, but the Buffalo Bills are being recognized by top tier draft talent. Having consistently successful seasons, with superstar players like Josh Allen and Stefon Diggs, is starting to pay dividends. The narrative that Buffalo is a place you shouldn’t want to go to has flipped. Players are publicly announcing they would love to play in Buffalo. Just this past week at the 2022 NFL Scouting Combine, multiple highly regarded prospects announced they would love to be a Bill on draft night.
Jameson Williams
The latest product in a long line of super talented wide receivers from Alabama, is Jameson Williams. Coming off an ACL tear and reportedly ahead of schedule in rehab. Williams is one of the drafts top prospects. At the combine on Monday, Williams was one of many receivers to show respect to the Bills and Josh Allen.
“Josh Allen, I feel like, is a great quarterback. I would love to play with Allen,”
The Bills have met with Williams at the combine and the prospect said he hopes to stay in contact with the team. Bills Mafia probably feels the same way after the comments about their beloved star quarterback. Adding Williams who is coming off a 1,572-yard, 15 touchdown season to the offense could be scary.
Garret Wilson
Another one of this year’s top prospects is Ohio State receiver Garret Wilson. Wilson had a great final college season posting 70 receptions for 1,058 yards and 12 touchdowns. At the combine the Bills also met with Wilson. Who had plenty of great things to say about Josh Allen referring to him as a “special talent.” “He’s probably one of the top two quarterbacks in the league. Being a receiver, that’s something you want to have for sure. Josh Allen would be top notch,” the receiver said.
Wilson could very well be on the board still when the Bills pick. Wide receiver is quietly a big need for the Bills this off-season. Having premier young talent publicly voice the desire to play for your team has to feel good for Brandon Beane, the Bills’ general manager.
Jahan Dotson
Mock drafts have Penn State receiver Jahan Dotson going anywhere from the late first round to the middle of the second round. The 5’11” shifty receiver had an excellent final college season. Dotson posted 90 receptions for 1,182 yards and 12 touchdowns. At the combine Dotson met with the Bills and he also spoke highly of them and quarterback Josh Allen. “He’s one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL right now and I would be extremely excited for the moment,” he said.
The Bills are in need of play makers who can create YAC (Yards after catch). Dotson could do that while lining up in the slot alongside Diggs and Davis. Oh, and he looks up to Stefon Diggs. “Stefon Diggs is someone I truly look up to. One of the great receivers in the league right now,” the talented prospect said.
What to take away
Looking directly at it, Buffalo Bills fans should be happy and excited that players are looking at and talking about the Bills like this. For so long the Bills were stuck in a drought and a team few players wanted to be on. That has changed, the Bills are one of the best teams in the league and players want to be in Buffalo.
The Bills, as mentioned earlier, could certainly use some additions in the receiver room. Continuing to surround Josh Allen with talent should be a top priority of the team this off-season. Not to mention, the more talent the easier it will be for first time play caller Ken Dorsey next season.
