Deion Sanders is building something special in Boulder

Ever since his departure from Jackson State University, there has been constant talk about how Deion Sanders is creating a new culture in Colorado. During his press conference, Sanders made it clear that he was looking for players who were willing to work hard and be the best they could be.

He gave the current players a straightforward message about the future of the program. “We’ve got a few positions already taken care of because I’m bringing my luggage with me and it’s Louis (Vuitton),” Sanders told the players. “I’m coming. It ain’t gonna be no more of the mess that these wonderful fans, the student body and some of your parents have put up with for probably two decades now. I’m coming. And when I get here, it’s going to change. So I want you all to get ready. Go ahead and jump in that portal and do whatever you’re going to do, because the more of you jump in, the more room you make.” It was obvious that reinforcements were needed because they were not at a high enough level to compete in the Pac-12.

Deion Sanders did exactly that, bringing in top players from all around the country.

The Transfer Class

As of today, the Buffaloes are the number one team in the 2023 transfer football team rankings, per 247 Sports. They’ve landed a total of 25 commitments, headlined by one 5-star, four 4-stars, and sixteen 3-stars.

The top recruit is 5-star WR/CB Travis Hunter. He was the number one player in the 2022 class and received offers from all of the top schools in the nation. He ultimately chose to join Coach Prime at Jackson State, and now Colorado. The other notable addition was QB Shedeur Sanders. This was expected and he will lead Colorado’s offense into one of the best in the Pac-12.

List of commitments:

  • LB Demouy Kennedy: 4-star
  • CB Kyndrich Breedlove: 3-star
  • EDGE Taylor Upshaw: 3-star

The Colorado Buffaloes will be an extremely different and improved team. This list of transfers brings in a haul of talent from both sides of the ball. The Deion Sanders effect is real and is turning the Buffaloes into a top football program. They have many important visits scheduled during the spring game.

The Coach Prime effect is real

Watching the videos created by Deion Sanders Jr., I’m on board with the hype of the Colorado Buffaloes and what they’re doing. Coach Prime is teaching his players what they need to be great but teaching them reality also. He reminds them to put in the effort, and their time will come. However, ultimately, it’s up to the players to go out and take what they want.

The Buffaloes went 1-11 last season and were the worst team in the Pac-12. Now they’re selling out their home games and looking to shake up the division While, hopefully, finally bringing back Colorado football.

Deion Sanders has a vision for Colorado, and that’s to create a program that gives everyone an equal opportunity and shapes hard workers. His goal at Jackson State and now is to create a path for his players to get to the league. Coach Prime is going to bring Colorado back to contention, and I can’t wait to see their football program grow.
