Every Team’s Biggest Position Need: NFC

After the 49ers’ devastating Super Bowl loss, fans of all NFC teams are looking forward to the offseason, where their team can improve. Many teams are one piece away from being championship contenders, whereas others have many holes to fill. Here’s the biggest position need for each team this offseason from the NFC.

NFC North

Green Bay Packers: TE

With the Packers expected to release Jimmy Graham, they need somebody to fill the gap and be the #2 option for Aaron Rodgers, behind Davante Adams.

Minnesota Vikings: CB

Xavier Rhodes was toasted in coverage and injuries to Mackensie Alexander and Mike Hughes didn’t help. The Vikings will be scrambling with the minimal cap room they will have.

Chicago Bears: OG

Kyle Long retired and James Daniels ranked among the worst of all left guards. The Bears will look for talent in the draft due to their lack of cap room.

Detroit Lions: DT

The Lions might lose three DTs as Mike Daniels and A’Shawn Robinson are both upcoming free agents and Damon Harrison is getting older and considering retirement.

NFC South

New Orleans Saints: WR

Michael Thomas is arguably the best wideout in the game, but Drew Brees needs more weapons, assuming he returns.

Atlanta Falcons: DE

After a lack of production from Vic Beasley Jr., the Falcons are expected to move on from him and will need somebody to complement DT Grady Jarrett.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers: RB

After a running back by committee approach for the 2019 season, in which they averaged 3.7 yards per carry, the Bucs need a true 3-down back.

Carolina Panthers: QB

Kyle Allen appeared to be the answer but majorly regressed, and his replacement Will Grier wasn’t any better. The Panthers are also expected to move on from Cam Newton.

NFC East

Philadelphia Eagles: CB

The cornerback position for the Eagles was a revolving door in 2019 due to injuries and inconsistent play, plus Ronald Darby is set to be a free agent.

Dallas Cowboys: S

Safety was the weakest part of the defense for the Cowboys, and three safeties are slated to become free agents. Cowboys fans would like Jamal Adams, but a more realistic option is in the draft.

New York Giants: DE

After a season with just 36 sacks, the Giants will be looking to add somebody to aid the development of Dexter Lawrence, and Leonard Williams is likely to leave in free agency.

Washington Redskins: RB

Derrius Guice has played in just 5 of 32 games due to knee injuries since entering the league and is the only Redskins running back under contract for 2020.

NFC West

San Francisco 49ers: WR

Jimmy G needs a true #1 wideout in San Fran. Emmanuel Sanders had solid production, but he will be a free agent and only reached 100 yards twice in 10 games.

Seattle Seahawks: OT

Starting right tackle Germain Ifedi and utility tackle George Fant are both impending free agents on an offensive line that allowed Russell Wilson to be sacked 48 times in 2019.

Los Angeles Rams: MLB

The Rams have no obvious roster holes, but they need depth behind Cory Littleton, who is expected to depart unless he gets paid $12 million a year.

Arizona Cardinals: OT

Both starting offensive tackles are going to be free agents this spring and will command a high price tag. The Cardinals will look to the draft to add protection for Kyler Murray, who was sacked 50 times in 2019.
