Everything You Need To Know For The 2020-2021 NBA Season

The 2020-2021 NBA Season is fast approaching, and we all have a lot of questions. After the massively disrupted year that we all bore witness to, ending in a playoff bubble in Orlando, there are legitimate concerns that need addressing. Let’s get into it.

When does the season start? When does it end?

The new NBA season tips off on December 22nd and, including playoffs, lasts until May 16th until further notice. It will be shorter that a typical NBA season, featuring a 72-game schedule. The first half of the schedule has been released, and the second half will be released midway through the first half of the season.

Where will the season be played? Is there a bubble?

There is no bubble as of yet, but the NBA has prepared a contingency plan in case of emergencies. Teams will play games as though the season were happening as normal, including travel to and from home and away games. New safety protocols featuring daily testing and restrictions on player travel are in place to limit breakouts.

Can players opt out of thus season like they did earlier this year?

Yes, but they will void all pay.

Can fans attend games?

That is dependent on the teams. Check https://www.nba.com/news/where-nba-teams-stand-on-in-arena-attendance to see the latest updates from each team. NBA teams have each received $30M from the league to assist with revenue loss from lack of attendance.
