The 2023 draft class is headlined by Bryce Young, Will Anderson, and CJ Stroud, but there is one prospect who could turn into the number-one player.
That prospect is Florida quarterback Anthony Richardson. This season Richardson started turning heads and showing his potential. He threw for 2,549 YDS, 17 TDs, and 9 INTs. Richardson has a strong arm, great mobility, and has what it takes to be an elite quarterback.
The biggest question with Anthony Richardson is whether he will be able to develop the skills necessary to take his game to the next level? I believe that with the right head coach, Richardson will be a special player.
I don’t see Richardson starting right away, because he still needs to improve his decision-making. A concern is his accuracy and ability to stay consistent. He’ll sometimes escape the pocket too early, causing the play to shut down.
I like the potential that Anthony Richardson has, and we’ll get a better look at him when he starts playing on a consistent basis.
Potential fits
Indianapolis Colts: Sitting at the fourth-overall pick, the Colts are in need of a quarterback, and Anthony Richardson would be a great fit. He would be behind a great offensive line, a good run game, and a young superstar in Michael Pittman Jr.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers: After Tom Brady retired, all attention has turned to the front office, and what they will do at quarterback. Tampa Bay doesn’t have a top pick in the draft, and Richardson could fall to them. He would be throwing to Mike Evans and Chris Godwin and be in a great position.
Las Vegas Raiders: With the recent release of Derek Carr, the Raiders are also in the market for a quarterback. While Aaron Rodgers remains a possibility, the option of taking a “project” in Anthony Richardson could be another route.
