Jackson’s NHL Week 4 Power Rankings

Week 4 NHL Power Rankings

  1. Arizona Coyotes

Record: 1-10-1

Last Week: 32

Scott Wedgewood to the rescue! The Coyotes have finally won a game, it only took 11 games…

  1. Chicago Blackhawks

Record: 2-9-2

Last week: 31

The Blackhawks fired head coach Jeremy Colliton this past weekend. They have picked up their first two wins of the season, and a new leader is on the way for this struggling team.

  1. Montreal Canadiens

Record: 3-10-0

Last Week: 30

It is very evident that Carey Price is so important to this team. I can’t believe they were in the Stanley Cup a year ago.

  1. Ottawa Senators

Record: 3-7-1

Last Week: 29

The Sens let up 5 goals in each of their games this week. This team is just not good yet.

  1. Seattle Kraken

Record: 4-7-1

Last Week: 23

There is an unwritten rule to my power rankings; you lose to the Coyotes, you drop down the list. That is what the Kraken did this week, handing the Yotes their first win of the season.

  1. Dallas Stars

Record: 4-5-2

Last Week: 24

The offensive struggle is real with this team, and wow is that not good with the amount of star power on this roster.

  1. Las Vegas Golden Knights

Record: 6-6-0

Last Week 12

Jack Eichel is going to help this team so much when he can make the lineup, and that’s the issue, WHEN.

  1. Vancouver Canucks

Record: 5-6-1

Last Week: 28

Finally, the offense comes alive for this team. Elias Pettersson seemed to get things going this past week which helps improve the horrible Powerplay.

  1. San Jose Sharks

Record: 6-4-1

Last Week: 27

The Sharks are well short-handed due to Covid protocols, but keep finding ways to win. The team if anything has earned my respect.

  1. Buffalo Sabres

Record: 5-5-2

Last Week: 15

The Jack Eichel saga is over in Buffalo! The Sabres had a rough week, but the team hopes to get Alex Tuch into the lineup whenever he is able to help give this team juice again.

  1. Pittsburgh Penguins

Record: 4-3-3

Last Week: 22

The Penguins are playing competitive, even with the bad news of Crosby being out again, now with COVID.

  1. Los Angeles Kings

Record: 6-5-1

Last Week: 25

Alex Iafallo is playing like he’s the most underrated player in the league. The Kings had a great week, and play from Iafallo and Kopitar has helped immensely.

  1. New Jersey Devils

Record: 5-3-2

Last Week: 20

The Devil’s blue line is struggling, and Dougie Hamilton’s injury is only going to make it worst.

  1. Anaheim Ducks

Record 6-4-3

Last Week: 26

A four-game winning streak for the Ducks has been impressive considering what the roster looks like. The play from John Gibson has been flawless, and it seems as long as he plays like himself, the team has a chance.

  1. Nashville Predators

Record: 6-5-1

Last Week: 18

The Predators have been very impressive offensively, and it’s fueled by great play from Matt Duchene and Ryan Johansen.

  1. New York Islanders

Record: 5-3-2

Last Week: 17

The Islanders have continued their elite defensive play this year, even after suffering a loss to another elite defensive team in Minnesota. The loss to the Wild was much closer than the score indicated, it was a 2-1 game until the third period, and two empty-net goals from over 130 feet gave the Wild 5 goals on the night.

  1. Detroit Red Wings

Record: 6-5-2

Last Week: 16

For being considered a reach in the draft Moritz Seider has been excellent. The rebuild in Detriot is looking great.

  1. Columbus Blue Jackets

Record: 7-3-0

Last Week: 21

Patrick Laine’s injury is going to sting, but the team has really been lifted by good play at the blue line, so I expect them to continue success even without the sniper.

  1. Colorado Avalanche

Record: 4-5-1

Last Week: 9

The Avalanche have not been good, but they do get their star forward Mikko Rantanen back, which should help.

  1. Boston Bruins

Record: 5-4-0

Last Week: 11

The Bruins have one of the best lines in hockey, yet, they are struggling to score. Something has to change for this team, or they’re going to be in trouble.

  1. Winnipeg Jets

Record: 6-3-2

Last Week: 13

The Jets simply have found ways to win by good goalie play by Comrie, while Hellebuyck has been away. The Jets are not good 5-5, so their winning ways are not sustainable.

  1. Philadelphia Flyers

Record: 6-2-2

Last Week: 19

The Flyers have looked like a completely different team this year. They are finally getting consistent and good goalie play, along with great defensive play.

  1. Toronto Maple Leafs

Record: 7-5-1

Last Week: 14

The Leafs have finally found their offense, especially Mitch Marner is one of the hottest players in the league. Jack Cambell has also been lights out.

  1. New York Rangers

Record: 7-3-3

Last Week: 7

The Rangers had a rough week going winless through three games, and the offense struggled. Play from Igor Shesterkin has made this team competitive, but they need to get their offense going fast.

  1. Tampa Bay Lighting

Record: 6-3-2

Last Week: 8

The Lightning seems to have found themselves winning 2 this last week. The Bolts seem to be leaving the hangover behind them.

  1. Washington Capitals

Record: 6-2-4

Last Week: 9

Ovi update: 11 goals and 21 points in 12 games, another week another increasing update. The Capitols continue to find success through their stars.

  1. St. Louis Blues

Record: 7-2-1

Last Week: 4

The Blues have snuck up on everybody this year. The big thing with this team is they have outscored opponents 26-13 after the third period.

  1. Minnesota Wild

Record: 8-3-0

Last Week: 10

A three-game win streak puts the Wild back into the top 5 of this week’s NHL Power Rankings. The Wild have been winning games this year despite Kirill Kaprizov and Kevin Fiala not scoring much yet. The Wild also have not lost in overtime or shootouts this year in 4 contests.

  1. Calgary Flames

Record: 7-1-3

Last Week: 5

Great play from the Flames top stars has elevated them to a superb start to the seasons.

  1. Edmonton Oilers

Record: 9-1-0

Last Week: 3

Connor McDavid.. I mean ARE YOU SERIOUS?!

  1. Carolina Hurricanes

Record: 9-1-0

Last Week: 1

The Hurricanes drop down one spot to the team that served them their first loss of the season.

  1. Florida Panthers

Record: 10-1-1

Last Week 2

The Panthers find themselves back atop of this week’s NHL Week 4 Power Rankings. The cats gave the Hurricanes their first loss of the year this past Saturday as well.
