Week 14 Power Rankings
- Montreal Canadians
Record: 8-25-5
Last Week: 31
They picked up Minnesota Gopher legend Rem Pitlick off waivers but that’s it, that is all they have done well this week. So congratulations, you have now passed the Coyotes for last on this Week 14 Power Rankings.
- Arizona Coyotes
Record: 10-24-4
Last Week: 32
THEY DID IT, THEY MOVED IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION ON THIS WEEKS POWER RANKINGS!
- Seattle Kraken
Record: 11-23-4
Last Week: 30
The Kraken six straight losses are a good sign that something is not working for the Kraken.
- Philadelphia Flyers
Record: 13-18-8
Last Week: 25
The defense is a giant problem right now for the Flyers, and if something doesn’t change the team will never get out of this hole.
- Buffalo Sabres
Record: 12-20-7
Last Week: 28
The Sabres have so many pieces on this team, but nothing is clicking.
- Ottawa Senators
Record: 11-19-2
Last Week: 29
The Senators are winning some games as of late, they have won six of their last ten, so up you go on the Week 14 Power Rankings.
- New Jersey Devils
Record: 14-19-5
Last Week: 23
The Devils lost big time to the Senators, and have gone on a skid as of late, which is why they are so low on this week’s Week 14 Power Rankings.
25. Chicago Blackhawks
Record: 15-18-5
Last week: 27
Okay, I was wrong again last week, the Blackhawks will not go away. This team confuses me.
24. Columbus Blue Jackets
Record: 17-18-1
Last Week: 24
After a promising win against the Hurricanes, the Blue Jackets got stomped 9-2 against the Panthers.
- New York Islanders
Record: 13-13-6
Last Week: 26
The Islanders have been playing so much better as of late, and that is contributed to the play of Mathew Barzal, finally.
- Detroit Red Wings
Record: 18-17-5
Last Week: 22
Detroit is not a very talented team and it shows on their record.
- Edmonton Oilers
Record: 18-15-2
Last Week: 17
The Oilers continue to struggle, although they only played one game this last week, it was a loss, and a bad press Conference followed.
- Vancouver Canucks
Record: 18-18-3
Last Week: 20
Bruce Boudreau’s magic ran out this last week as the Canucks went 1-3-0 during a tough stretch against the Panthers, Lightning, Hurricanes, and Capitals.
- Winnipeg Jets
Record: 17-12-6
Last Week: 19
The Jets only played two games this past week and split them, so I feel obligated to just leave them here on this week’s Week 14 Power Rankings.
- Anaheim Ducks
Record 19-16-7
Last Week: 13
The Ducks have now lost three in a row. A week after me saying they are for real, sorry Ducks.

Timo Meier had a huge game Tuesday, putting up a 5 goal performance in a big win against the Red Wings.
- Dallas Stars

- Calgary Flames
Record: 18-11-6
Last Week: 15
The Flames struggles continued in a loss to the Senators last week, but then went on to crush the Panthers 5-1 Tuesday, so maybe things have turned around for the Flames.
- Los Angeles Kings
Record: 20-15-5
Last Week: 18
The King’s new pieces this offseason have really played a big part in their success, the only worry is their bottom-six lines.
- Boston Bruins
Record: 22-12-2
Last Week: 14
The Bruins are 8-2-0 in their last 10 games, it seems Boston is back to being Boston.
- Nashville Predators
Record: 24-14-2
Last Week: 7
The Predators have been cold as of late, it may have been too good to be true, but that is for time to tell I suppose.
- St. Louis Blues
Record: 23-11-5
Last Week: 9
The Blues have not gotten the goaltending that they had at the beginning of the season, but their goal scoring has overshadowed those struggles so far.
- Toronto Maple Leafs
Record: 24-10-3
Last Week: 10
The Leafs have had a couple of disappointing losses lately, which included giving up a 4-1 lead, and a 3-1 lead. Jack Campbell has been colder as of late too, but he did say he needs to be better.
- Pittsburgh Penguins
Record: 23-10-5
Last Week: 11
Evgeni Malkin is back in the lineup and the Pens are back on track to making their annual playoff run.
- Las Vegas Golden Knights

Last Week 8
The Golden Knights have gone on a small skid as of late, but it has an unlucky taste to it.
- Minnesota Wild
Record: 22-10-3
Last Week: 12
The Wild has a four-game point streak and has gotten back on track after losing four in a row. The more impressive part of this run is how they have done it, without their top Center, top defensemen, and starting goalie. The Wild have gotten some great play by former first-round pick Matt Boldy who now has four points in his first four NHL games.
- New York Rangers
Record: 26-10-4
Last Week: 6
Adam Fox and Ryan Strome had ice in their veins Wednesday night in their win against the Leafs, a popular theme night in and night out.
- Washington Capitals
Record: 22-9-9
Last Week: 4
The Capitals have started the new year off cold, which also includes Ovechkin, who has been much slower scoring-wise as of late.
- Colorado Avalanche
Record: 26-8-3
Last Week: 5
The Avalanche has one of the best top-six offensive pairs and top four defensive pairs in the league and that shows, especially with Cale Makar making highlight-reel goals on a consistent pace.
- Tampa Bay Lighting
Record: 27-9-5
Last Week: 3
The Lighting has won four straight this last week, and it is evident that they are healthy and they are dangerous.
- Carolina Hurricanes
Record: 26-8-2
Last Week: 2
The Hurricanes social media team took advantage of blowing out the Bruins, and they did not hold back on Brad Marchand.
- Florida Panthers
Record: 26-8-5
Last Week 1
The Panthers have averaged six goals a game since Dec. 29, which is far ahead of any other team. They have been one of the best 5 on 5 teams in the league and it shows on their record.
