Week 16 Power Rankings
- Montreal Canadians
Last Week: 32
The Canadians..well, they just are not even halfway to being average. Im sorry Canadians fans but, you will remain number 32, which is under a team that will be playing home games at a college rink.
- Arizona Coyotes
Last Week: 31
The Coyotes went 0-3-0 last week. Yeah I think its okay to keep them at 31 on this Week 16 Power Rankings.
- New Jersey Devils
Last Week: 26
The Devils are in the midst of a 6 game loosing streak..yeah, things are not looking up for Jersey fans.
- Buffalo Sabres
Last Week: 28
The Sabres fans do have a couple of things to look forward to, those are Alex Tuch, and the lotter.
- Seattle Kraken
Last Week: 29
The Kraken are going to be sellers at the deadline, which is unusual territory for expansion teams in the last 6 years.
- Philadelphia Flyers
Last Week: 29
The Flyers finally ended their 13-game loosing streak, which is now their first win in January.
- Ottawa Senators
Last Week: 27
The Senators have shown some signs of life lately, and their young stars have been fun, so why not move them up on this Week 16 Power Rankings.
- Chicago Blackhawks
Last week: 25
The Blackhawks simply put, have had a season to forget, and that is a understatement.
- Columbus Blue Jackets
Last Week: 24
As I deuces later in this article, the Jackets surrendered one of the biggest beatings of the year against the Flames allowing 62 shots in their 6-0 loss.
- Detroit Red Wings
Last Week: 23
The Red Wings are seemingly going to hover over at .500 this season.
- San Jose Sharks
Last Week: 17
The Sharks have not had a good new year, but at least Timo Meier has been spectacular for them.
- Winnipeg Jets
Last Week: 21
The Jets are looking up at the standing, a lot to do with Hellebuyck’s recent performances. He’s allowed 3.62 goals above average, which for a player the Jets rely so heavily on, is not ideal.
20. Vancouver Canucks
Last Week: 20
The Canucks look to be going in the direction of selling at the deadline, and although fans may not like it, they may need to sell some big-time pieces.
- Los Angeles Kings
Last Week: 18
The best news of the week for the Kings is former number 2 overall pick Quinton Byfield notching his first NHL goal, so there is that to be hopeful for.
- Edmonton Oilers
Last Week: 19
The Oilers certainly look good again, McDavid is playing great yet again, they just need some goaltender help.
- New York Islanders
Last Week: 22
The Islanders are playing much, much better lately and that is helped by Illya Sorokin and his very good play. The Islanders finally move up out of the bottom 20 in this Week 16 Power Rankings since the first few weeks of the season.
- Anaheim Ducks
Last Week: 16
John Gibson is the Ducks savior this season, but most of all the last few weeks. He is proving once again that is one of the league’s top goalies.
- Dallas Stars
Last Week: 14
The Stars got a special deal with 37-year-old Joe Pavelski as he has turned into a point-per-game player and now with be a captain at the All-Star Game.
- Calgary Flames
Last Week: 15
The Flames dropped a massive 62 shots on goal against the Blue Jackets, which has been their best performance all season.
- Boston Bruins
Last Week: 13
The Bruins have stayed fairly consistent, but their one issue could be goaltending, as Tuuka Rask has allowed five-goal twice in his first four games, but it could take some time for him to get comfortable.
- St. Louis Blues
Last Week: 11
The Blues may be looking at a starting goalie chance soon with Husso out playing Binnington lately.
- Nashville Predators
Last Week: 12
The Predators have a couple of resurgent players who have saved their career in the Smash City, them being Juuse Saros and Matt Duchene.
- Las Vegas Golden Knights
Last Week 10
The Golden Knights are going to stay at 10, it just has not been a great stretch for the team.
- Pittsburgh Penguins
Last Week: 9
The Penguins had a difficult week, and it was not a great result, but the team is still very good. Also how about that goal from Bryan Boyle, wow.
- New York Rangers
Last Week: 6
The Rangers are very reliant on Igor Shesterkin, which has come back to bite them in the back a couple of times, including their game against the Blue Jackets, when they played a good offensive game, but goaltending did not help in that loss.
- Washington Capitals
Last Week: 5
The Capital goaltender situation is becoming an issue, so a move at the deadline is possible. On the other hand, Ovechkin has 29 goals which are just eight away from passing Jaromir Jagr on the all-time list.
- Toronto Maple Leafs
Last Week: 8
The Leafs are one of many teams this year with a well-performing rookie. Micheal Bunting notched his first hat trick against the Red Wings and really has been consistently good all season.
- Minnesota Wild
Last Week: 5
The Wild are never out of a game, and actually, they are the most dangerous team in the league when their goalie is pulled. This team never quits and that is why they are top 5 again, and quite frankly, they could be higher on this list, but for now, they remain at 5.
- Tampa Bay Lighting
Last Week: 3
The Lighting has been a very consistently good team the last two months, and that has to be credited by the great play of goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy, who is repping a .922 save percentage and 12.9 goals saved above average in his 35 appearances.
- Carolina Hurricanes
Last Week: 4
Sebastian Aho has been the Hurricane’s best player, he is one of the most dangerous offensive players in the league this year.
- Florida Panthers
Last Week 2
The Panthers are possibly the most dangerous team in the NHL when losing. They simply never get scared by a deficit.
- Colorado Avalanche
Last Week: 1
The Avalanche are just what we thought they were going to be coming into the season. For the first time this year, the Avs are going to stay at the top of this Week 16 Power Rankings.
