Jackson’s Week 19 NHL Power Rankings

Week 19 Power Rankings

  1. Arizona Coyotes

Record: 13-33-4

Last Week: 29

The Coyotes’ are looking at another losing season, so the trade deadline will be sell city, again. Welcome back to the very exclusive 32nd club.

  1. Montreal Canadiens

Record: 11-33-7

Last Week: 31

The Canadiens had an actually decent week, winning two straight games for the first time this season.

  1. Seattle Kraken

Record: 16-32-4

Last Week: 28

The Kraken lost all three games this past week, and that is good enough to drop them far in the rankings.

  1. Buffalo Sabres

Record: 15-24-8

Last Week: 29

The Sabres are back to where they starting the seasons, bottom of this power rankings.

  1. Philadelphia Flyers

Record: 15-26-10

Last Week: 30

The Flyers have been bad again, but hey, they did get some points after losing in overtime.

  1. New Jersey Devils

Record: 17-28-5

Last Week: 27

The Devils have had some good play from some of their young talent, especially Jack Hughes, who is averaging a point per game.

  1. Chicago Blackhawks

Record: 18-26-8

Last week: 26

The Blackhawks will not be a playoff team this season, so it is time to start thinking about who will be sold at the deadline.

  1. Ottawa Senators

Record: 19-26-5

Last Week: 25

The Senators have had a long season, but an encouraging win over Minnesota should raise some hopes for Ottawa.

  1. New York Islanders

Record: 18-20-7

Last Week: 21

The Islanders are back to being a not-so-good team, which includes getting beat by the Canadiens.

  1. San Jose Sharks

Record: 22-22-5

Last Week: 22

The Sharks are a very average team and their record shows that. They have some bad contracts on the roster as well, including Brent Burns who is having a horrible season.

  1. Detroit Red Wings

Record: 23-22-6

Last Week: 23

The Red Wings only played one game this past week and won, so they go up one spot in this Week 19 Power Rankings.

  1. Columbus Blue Jackets

Record: 26-23-1

Last Week: 24

Patrik Laine is still on an insane hot streak. He has 20 points in his last ten games. This has been a large reason for Columbus’s hot streak.

  1. Vancouver Canucks

Record: 24-22-6

Last Week: 20

The Canucks have had a pretty fine week getting above .500 again, and that was helped by Ellias Pettersson.

  1. Anaheim Ducks

Record 24-19-9

Last Week: 16

The Ducks had an even week, but things are getting frustrating in Anaheim.

  1. Winnipeg Jets

Record: 22-20-8

Last Week: 18

The Jets are not looking like a playoff team this year, but they do seem to have their rival Wilds number as they won back to back against them.

  1. Nashville Predators

Record: 29-18-4

Last Week: 13

The Predators now have lost four straight games, and their offense is struggling mightily.

  1. Edmonton Oilers

Record: 28-19-3

Last Week: 18

The Oilers had a great week winning five straight, then lost 7-2 against the Wild, so inconsistent goaltending continues.

  1. Los Angeles Kings

Record: 26-17-7

Last Week: 17

The Kings have an 11-5-2 record since the new year, and things are looking up for LA, especially with their conference.

  1. Washington Capitals

Record: 28-15-9

Last Week: 14

The Capitals have been underperforming this new year, but this week they got four very important points.

  1. Dallas Stars

Record: 27-20-2

Last Week: 15

The Stars are right back in a playoff spot, their hot play has been helped by some great goaltending from rookie Jake Oettinger.

  1. St. Louis Blues

Record: 30-14-6

Last Week: 12

The Blues had a good week winning three games and getting a point in another. The Blues are in a good position, looking up at the Wild and Avalanche, but playing good hockey.

  1. Las Vegas Golden Knights

Record: 29-18-4

Last Week 10

The Golden Knights have been very average since the arrival of Jack Eichel, they are now looking up in the standing at the Flames, something they have not done a lot since becoming a team.

  1. Boston Bruins

Record: 29-17-4

Last Week: 11

The Bruins are still without Brad Marchand and it is showing as their offense has been lackluster as of late.

  1. Pittsburgh Penguins

Record: 31-14-6

Last Week: 4

Crosby reached the 500 goal milestone this last week, and of course, it is against his personal rival Flyers.

  1. Carolina Hurricanes

Record: 35-11-4

Last Week: 4

The Hurricanes had a good week, they have been slightly underwhelming this month but bounced back nicely.

  1. Minnesota Wild

Record: 31-14-3

Last Week: 2

The Wild lost big against Florida off of some interesting coaching decisions, pulling the goalie three times with over six minutes left in the third, giving up 2 empty-net goals. They then went on to win big in Edmonton, then losing to the Senators…Inconsistency at its finest.

  1. Toronto Maple Leafs

Record: 32-14-4

Last Week: 5

The Leafs got five goals put up against them versus the Canadiens, that’s a big YIKES, they followed that with a loss in OT to the Blue Jackets. Rough stretch for Leafs Nation.

  1. Tampa Bay Lighting

Record: 32-11-6

Last Week: 6

The Lighting has played one game this week and won, so up you go I suppose.

  1. Calgary Flames

Record: 30-13-6

Last Week: 9

The Flames are on fire..hah get it, anyway, they have won 10 straight games and moved to the top five in this Week 19 Power Rankings.

  1. New York Rangers

Record: 32-13-5

Last Week: 6

Igor Shesterkin, right now, looks like he should win the Hart and Vezina. He is incredible.

  1.   Florida Panthers

Record: 35-11-5

Last Week 3

The Panthers had a successful road trip, winning in Carolina, Minnesota, and Chicago. Florida continues to make me look smart, which I appreciate.

  1. Colorado Avalanche

Record: 36-10-4

Last Week: 1

The Avalanche are on another level from anyone in the Western Conference, and for my rankings, they are on another level than any team in the league.
