Jackson’s Week 9 NHL Power Rankings

Week 9 Power Rankings

  1. Arizona Coyotes

Record: 5-20-2

Last Week: 32

The Coyotes might stay here at the bottom..or top I guess this whole year.

  1. Montreal Canadians

Record: 6-21-3

Last Week: 30

Things just keep getting worse for the Canadians, their forward Tyler Toffoli is out for several weeks.

  1. New York Islanders

Record: 7-12-5

Last Week: 31

The Islanders finally got their first home win, that is about the best thing to happen to the team this year.

  1. Buffalo Sabres

Record: 9-15-4

Last Week: 28

Sabres fans I’m sorry, your bad again.

  1. Ottawa Senators

Record: 9-16-1

Last Week: 29

The Senators have been playing, actually, some good hockey as of late, and that is good enough to move them up on this week’s Week 9 Power Rankings.

  1. New Jersey Devils

Record: 10-12-5

Last Week: 20

I’m disappointed..the Devils are a very fun team to watch, but they just can’t put everything together quite yet.

  1. Seattle Kraken

Record: 10-15-3

Last Week: 26

The Kraken isn’t going anywhere on this list, they are simply just not good.

  1. Chicago Blackhawks

Record: 10-15-2

Last week: 22

The Blackhawks are not very good, and it may be time to start selling some big-time names.

  1. Columbus Blue Jackets

Record: 14-12-1

Last Week: 14

Losers of three straight will drop you on this Week 9 Power Rankings.

  1. Philadelphia Flyers

Record: 11-12-4

Last Week: 27

The Flyers have been much less of a disaster as of late, which is an encouraging site for Philly fans.

  1. Vancouver Canucks

Record: 13-15-2

Last Week: 25

“BRUCE THERE IT IS”!

  1. Detroit Red Wings

Record: 14-12-3

Last Week: 21

The Red Wings have lost three straight but the team continues to be a tough fight.

  1. San Jose Sharks

Record: 15-13-1

Last Week: 23

The Sharks certainly look better than expected, and it seems their young guns are contributing as well.

  1. Winnipeg Jets

Record: 13-10-5

Last Week: 19

The Jets have a top-line who is not scoring as much as they should be, without that production I don’t expect the Jets to be too competitive.

  1. Los Angeles Kings

Record: 12-10-5

Last Week: 21

Jonathon Quick is playing incredibly, which brings me back to 2012.

  1. Dallas Stars

Record: 13-11-2

Last Week: 19

The Stars are now back to struggling and got bad news from Ben Bishop who was informed he would never play again. The star goalie was forced to retire, a very sad day for the hockey world.

  1. Boston Bruins

Record: 14-9-2

Last Week: 16

The Bruins have not gotten the results they wanted, but with their talent, they should be good for a playoff spot.

15. Anaheim Ducks

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7QAIDnaYGpMb

Record 16-9-5

Last Week: 17

Trevor Zegras and Sonny Milano may have scored the goal of the century, I mean WOW.

  1. Nashville Predators

Record: 17-10-1

Last Week: 24

The Preds are HOT, winners of five straight, and they move way up on this week, Week 9 Power Rankings.

  1. St. Louis Blues

Record: 16-8-5

Last Week: 13

The Blues have been winning, even without their stars getting going, so the team has some potential.

  1. Edmonton Oilers

Record: 16-11-0

Last Week: 8

The Oilers have lost four straight, and with two of the best players in the world, the team needs to start letting up fewer goals before things get worse.

  1. Pittsburgh Penguins

Record: 15-8-5

Last Week: 11

Jake Guentzel went on injured reserve after an amazing 13 game point streak, so bad news for the Pens.

  1. Carolina Hurricanes

Record: 19-7-1

Last Week: 6

The Hurricanes have had a tough stretch and now are in Covid trouble. Things are looking grey in Carolina.

  1. Calgary Flames

Record: 15-7-6

Last Week: 9

The Flames have been in Covid trouble as well, so not too many games are going to be played for the Flames.

  1. Las Vegas Golden Knights

Record: 17-11-0

Last Week 12

The Knights have no issue scoring that is for sure, the issue is letting up goals. The Knights also may have Jack Eichel in early 2022, so good news ahead.

  1. Tampa Bay Lighting

Record: 18-6-4

Last Week: 7

The Lightning has been rolling, but I am not going to move a team that gets blown out by the Senators, can’t happen.

  1. New York Rangers

Record: 18-7-3

Last Week: 5

The Rangers seem like they will be okay without Igor Shesterkin for short time, but having him back would keep this team very very good.

  1. Colorado Avalanche

Record: 17-7-2

Last Week: 10

The Avalanche is back, and they are dominating yet again.

  1. Florida Panthers

Record: 18-6-4

Last Week 4

As soon as the Panthers get healthier they will get better.

  1. Minnesota Wild

Record: 19-8-1

Last Week: 2

The Wild lost and ended their 9 game win streak, but I wouldn’t be too worried about this team, they are one of, if not, the best home team in the league, and are getting healthier day by day.

  1. Washington Capitals

Record: 17-5-6

Last Week: 1

Ovi update: 20 goals and 44 points in 26 games. The Capitols got T.J Oshie back this last week, which should help the scoring some more. Ovi has slowed up a bit as well.

  1. Toronto Maple Leafs

Record: 20-8-2

Last Week: 3

It is hard to believe that this is the same Leaf’s team that struggled so much to start the year. This team is very good, maybe good enough to win a playoff series, lol.
