With the New York Jets preseason wrapping up on Sunday, the Jets will need to trim down their roster to 53 players before Monday’s 4:00 PM deadline. The Jets improved most of their holes this summer, bringing in Garrett Wilson, Sauce Gardner, and Jermaine Johnson through the draft, along with CJ Uzomah and Tyler Conklin in Free Agency. If the Jets can stay healthy this year, they should be a fun team to watch and might be able to break .500.
Zach Wilson, Joe Flacco, Mike White (cut Chris Streveler). If Streveler passes through waivers, the Jets should look to put him on their practice squad.
Breece Hall, Michael Carter, Tevin Coleman, Ty Johnson (cut La’Michael Perine, Zonovan Knight)
Garrett Wilson, Corey Davis, Elijah Moore, Braxton Berrios, Jeff Smith, Denzel Mims (cut Tarik Black, Calvin Jackson, Irvin Charles). If the Jets can find a role for Mims in this offense, they will have 5 very talented receivers that they can throw out there every week.
CJ Uzomah, Tyler Conklin, Jeremy Ruckert, Trevon Wesco (cut Lawrence Cager, Kenny Yeboah). The Jets will run more two TE sets this season and adding Uzomah, Conklin, and Ruckert will be tough for defenses to face.
Duane Brown, Laken Tomlinson, Alijah Vera-Tucker, Connor McGovern, George Fant, Max Mitchell, Dan Feeney, Chuma Edge (cut Ross Pierschbacher, Nate Herbig, Conor McDermott, Grant Hermanns). The Jets added to their OL with Laken Tomlinson and replacing Mekhi Becton with Duane Brown. If everyone holds up, it’ll help out Zach Wilson and the run game tremendously.
Carl Lawson, Jermaine Johnson, Michael Clemons, Jacob Martin, Jabari Zuniga (cut Bradlee Anae, Vinny Curry, Bryce Huff). Adding a healthy Carl Lawson with Jermaine Johnson and Michael Clemons is a huge upgrade from last year.
Sheldon Rankins, Quinnen Williams, Jonathan Franklin-Myers, Solomon Thomas (cut Tanzel Smart, Nathan Shepherd, Jonathan Marshall). The Jets added some quality depth at DT this off-season, with Solomon Thomas and Sheldon Rankins.
Quincy Williams, CJ Mosley, Kwon Alexander, Hamsah Nasirildeen, Del’Shawn Phillips (cut Marcell Harris, Jamien Sherwood, DQ Thomas). Having Kwon Alexander as your backup is already a huge plus, along with Mosley and Williams as your starters.
Sauce Gardner, Bryce Hall, Michael Carter II, DJ Reed, Brandin Echols, Javelin Guidry (cut Justin Hard, Rachad Wildgoose, Isaiah Dunn). The Jets still need to improve at Corner, but adding Gardner and Reed is a step in the right direction.
Jordan Whitehead, LaMarcus Joyner, Will Parks, Jason Pinnock (cut Ashtyn Davis, Tony Adams). Ashtyn may have lost his roster spot as he was playing late into Sunday’s game. Adding Jordan Whitehead from Tampa Bay was a great snag by Joe Douglas and co.
Potential Practice Squad: Chris Streveler, Rachad Wildgoose, Bradlee Anae, Kenny Yeboah, Zonovan Knight, Calvin Jackson, Jamien Sherwood, Nate Herbig.
