With all the speculations around the second overall pick, finally, the Washington Redskins select Ohio State edge rusher Chase Young.
There was plenty of speculation that Washington was strongly considering drafting former Alabama, now Dolphins QB Tu’a Tagovailoa, but those rumors were all smoke to try and get more trade bait. At the end of the day, it just never made any sense for Washington.
Chase Young, is just another addition to an overhaul of the franchise this off-season. Young, who many to believe to be the best prospect in this year’s draft, maybe one of the best prospects in recent memory. He will join newly acquired head coach Ron Rivera and defensive coordinator, Jack Del Rio.
This move would add the best draft prospect to one of the league’s most talented defensive lines in all of football that features guys like Ryan Kerrigan, Montez Sweat, Jonathan Allen, Daron Payne, and Matt Ioannidis.
Now with this pick, the future of the franchise is Dwayne Haskins on offense, and Chase Young the defensive end. If they can get Dwayne Haskins on the right path, build later in the draft and get him more help on the offensive end, this team can be one of the league’s best teams in the league sooner than later.
