Predicting where the top FAs Land

We are close to July now & there are still plenty of good Free Agents remaining. The New England Patriots came as no surprise if you’ve been following rumors for a while, along with Jamal Adams trade request. Without further ado, here are my top Free Agent predictions:

  • Jadeveon Clowney, DE: New Orleans Saints. The Saints are reportedly at the top  of Clowney’s preferred destinations, and it makes a lot of sense. New Orleans has been looking for another rusher, and a rotation of Clowney & Marcus Davenport would make a nice trio for their defense. Clowney had a bit of a down year in 2019, totaling 3 sacks and 21 tackles, but in previous years Clowney has been a consistent 9 sack a year performer, and he can still get back to that as well. At the beginning of the Free Agency period, Clowney was looking for somewhere near $20M per year, which that along with his performance last year played a big factor into why he’s still unsigned.
  • Logan Ryan, CB: Minnesota Vikings. It was previously reported that the New York Jets came to an agreement with Ryan, but that turned out to be an unreliable source & Ryan is still on the market. I think it’s time for Minnesota to make a move on a corner. They lost Xavier Rhodes, Mackensie Alexander, and Trae Waynes in Free Agency, and added Jeff Gladney and Cameron Dantzler in the draft. Gladney can be a good starter, but they will need to add a player to go along with Gladney. Ryan allowed 938 yards and 5 TDs in 2019, along with 2 INTs with Tennessee.
  • Everson Griffen, DE: Seattle Seahawks. The Seahawks are pretty thin at DE with the loss of Ezekiel Ansah & Jadeveon Clowney, and Griffen can still be a very good pass rusher for Seattle. Griffen totaled 41 tackles and 8 sacks last year, his best year since 2017. Griffen should come in and bring a dominant presence for a depleted Seahawks pass rush. However, the only problem with bringing in Griffen would be cap space. Seattle has only $14M in cap, and Griffen would take most of that.
  • LeSean Mccoy, RB: Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Buccaneers have a glaring hole at RB, and they did everything for Tom Brady this off-season besides get him a solid RB. McCoy can give the Bucs 1-2 more solid years before they have to look elsewhere, and he’s an upgrade over Ronald Jones & Keyshaun Vaughn. McCoy had a solid season for the Kansas City Chiefs last year, totaling 465 yards, 4 TDs, and a 4.6 yard average on 101 attempts. On a new team like Tompa Bay, and where he’s not fighting for touches with 4 other RBs, McCoy can see a better season this year.
  • Jason Peters, OT: Denver Broncos. Peters may not find another starting job again. IF he wants to keep playing, he’ll be able to catch on as a backup/plugin starter somewhere. That “somewhere” might be the Denver Broncos. They have 2 solid tackles in Ja’Wuan James & Garrett Bolles, but they don’t have very good backups. Peters could come in and hold down the backup job behind Bolles for the year & serve as a veteran presence around the locker room.
