It is officially showtime on Broadway.
The New York Rangers have been linked to Patrick Kane for months and were viewed as the top destination if a trade were to happen. After acquiring Vladamir Tarasenko and Niko Mikkola from the Saint Louis Blues, a trade for Kane seemed unlikely. Good news for the Rangers is that Chris Drury found a way to pull it off.
Per Frank Seravalli, the Chicago Blackhawks are acquiring a 2023 second-round pick, and a 2023 fourth-round pick. The second-round pick heading to Chicago can turn into a first-round pick if the Rangers make the Eastern Conference Finals and would then be in 2024 or 2025, according to Emily Kaplan.
The Arizona Coyotes are reportedly the third team involved in the blockbuster trade. Per multiple reports, the Coyotes will receive a 2025 third-round pick from the New York Rangers for helping make the Kane deal a reality.
It was not easy for Chicago to part ways with Kane, but a move had to be made. It is a new era in Chicago and keeping Kane on the roster was not a possibility. Patrick Kane spent his entire career with Chicago and won three Stanley Cups.
It was reported that Kane wanted to be dealt to the Rangers, and New York was the only team he’d waive his no-trade clause for.
How will Patrick Kane fit in New York?

The Rangers have been cold lately, but the addition of Patrick Kane will give them much needed momentum to turn things around. He is expected to play on the second line and reunite with former Blackhawks teammate Artemi Panarin.
Adding Kane is a huge addition offensively, and now gives the Rangers one of, if not the best top six in the NHL. Currently, New York is sitting in third place in the Metropolitain division and are looking to catch up to the Devils and Hurricanes.
There is no doubt that after all these trade over the past week have been completed, the Eastern Conference is an absolute powerhouse. It has been rumored that Kane could potentially debut tomorrow against the Flyers.
Patrick Kane coming to Broadway is one of the biggest trades in franchise history. He will have great chemistry with Panarin and serve as a mentor to Alexis Lafreniere and Kaapo Kakko.
This season, Kane has 16 goals, and 29 assists, for a total of 45 points. It is amazing what Chris Drury has done this trade deadline. Two all-stars, and adding much needed depth is all fans could ask for. While also keeping top prospects and young assets, who at the beginning of the season were seen as the needed pieces for a trade.
The New York Rangers were already an exciting team watch, with the addition of Showtime on Broadway they become must-see.
