Although it was a long negotiating process, the Broncos have secured their franchise QB for the next 7 seasons. Contract extension talks started months ago at the owners’ meetings in Florida. Denver had a deadline set to get the extension with Wilson done last Saturday, and although it was late both sides came to terms. With Russell Wilson’s extension, the Broncos gained $7 million in 2022 salary cap space.
Extending Wilson is huge for the Broncos because they no longer have to worry about his contract expiring next season and him possibly becoming a free agent. Now the Broncos will turn their attention to Seattle, as they play the Seahawks in just over a week.
