Chazz Surratt Scouting Report

The former quarterback converted linebacker Chazz Surratt has a lot to bring to the table. In his first two years playing linebacker at North Carolina, Surratt made the All-SEC First Team twice and totaled 206 tackles. His impact on the North Carolina defense was tremendous, and the effect was felt as soon as he made the position switch. His great run support and zone coverage ability have put him on the radar as one of the more underrated linebackers in the class. However he’s not perfect of course, his speed and size are below average, but his instincts help make up for this flaw. He also struggles when tackling sometimes which is a red flag for a lot of teams. Even with these concerns, the talent and upside are there for Surratt. Good linebackers are in high demand in the NFL right now, and if Surratt makes the transition well, he can be elite.

Nick Bolton Scouting Report

After starting off the season as a projected number one or two linebacker in the country due to an incredible sophomore season, Nick Bolton of Missouri did his best to keep up the success. Although he did cool off a bit during his Junior year, Bolton showed growth from last year even after such an incredible season. He’s made a strong case to be the 3rd linebacker taken in this class after Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah and Micah Parsons. His incredible play has brought him into possible first-round conversations, although the most likely landing spot for him is in the early second round. Regardless he has still shown some first-round talent and could end up being a great pick if he does indeed fall to the second.

Jabril Cox Scouting Report

Jabril Cox has a very interesting story. After winning three straight FCS National Championships at NDSU, he transferred to LSU for the 2020 season. Once there Cox had an immediate impact. Even though the Tigers underperformed most people’s expectations that year, Cox broke out on the national stage, and although he didn’t win another championship he had impressed scouts. Unfortunately, he wasn’t able to work out at his pro day to show off his athleticism due to injuries, but he should still be a higher pick. More and more scouts have recognized him as a gem. Coverage linebackers have become much more high demand in the NFL, and Cox has shown how good he can be in coverage. Even though LSU as a whole had an extremely disappointing season, Cox wasn’t to blame. He showed just how valuable he can be with the proper development, which could make him a massive steal if he falls to the later rounds.

Dylan Moses Scouting Report

The leader at the helm of the 2020 Alabama defense, Dylan Moses, can’t prove much more than he already has. He’s a 2-time national champion, in 2018 he was a second-team All-American and second-team All-SEC player, and even while battling injuries all through 2020 he still was put on the All-SEC first team. He’s shown he’s capable of taking on a leadership role, which is a trait strongly desired at the linebacker position. He provided great run support to the Bama defense, and his ability to fill running lanes was a huge play disruptor. He doesn’t recognize plays as fast as NFL teams may want him to, but he’s usually still able to make a tackle using his freakish athleticism. Teams may have questions about his block shedding as well, but Moses is a player that’s shown he can develop his game quickly, so this shouldn’t be as glaring of an issue going forward. Coaching staff love a coachable player such as Moses, and his skill set makes him a day one player in the draft.
