The Denver Broncos have found the missing piece

The Denver Broncos and New Orleans Saints have agreed to a trade that will make Sean Payton Denver’s next head coach.

The Saints will receive the Broncos’ 2023 first-round pick (#29) and a 2024 second-round pick for Payton and the Saints’ 2024 third-round selection, sources told Adam Schefter.

It was clear when Jerry Rosburg took over as the interim head coach that Russell Wilson wasn’t the problem, Nathaniel Hackett was. The Broncos have not had an experienced head coach since Gary Kubiak, and Sean Payton is the best option they could’ve chosen.

Sean Payton proved with the Saints that he is a top coach in the NFL, and a prime mind offensively. There have been questions all off-season if Russell Wilson can be “fixed”, and Sean Payton will do so.

But, Denver needs to keep their foot on the gas pedal and keep making moves. While Sean Payton is a dramatic addition to the roster, there is still much work to be done. More moves must be made on the offensive line, along with filling a handful of holes on the defensive side.

What could Sean Payton’s staff look like?

Potential Staff:

Head Coach: Sean Payton

Offensive Coordinator: Joe Lombardi

Defensive Coordinator: Vic Fangio

Special Teams Coordinator: Jerry Rosburg

This staff has a ton of experience in the NFL and would set Denver up tremendously for the upcoming season. While Ejiro Evero has done an amazing job, I do expect him to land the head coaching position for the Colts or Cardinals this off-season.

I absolutely love the Broncos’ acquisition of Sean Payton. The new owners have done what Denver has missed the past 7 years. They set their sights on the top candidate with experience and stopped at nothing to acquire him.
