Three Teams Who Could Pick First in the 2022 NFL Draft

As NFL fans, we want to see our team win football games and make a run at a Super Bowl ring each and every season. The unfortunate truth of the NFL, is that all good things must come to an end and our teams are going to be terrible at some point. A bright spot in one of these dim seasons for your team could be the chance to pick first overall in the following year’s draft. Generally, if you are picking first overall then you have players at critical positions who harshly underperformed, on the bright side, you have the pick of the litter to fix said problem with an elite prospect. So let’s look at who could be the three worst teams in the 2021-22 NFL season.

Houston Texans (3-14)

This is a terrible football team and to add insult to injury, they are not expected to have their best player in quarterback Deshaun Watson due to ongoing court cases. The plague that is Cal McNair and Jack Easterby are still in the building and as long as they are running this football club, the Texans will continue to disappoint their fans. I feel terrible for Davis Mills because I feel like they will waste his talent and I feel sorry for whoever they would pick first overall. This is one of the ugliest ball clubs up front in recent memory.

Best Fit: QB Spencer Rattler, Oklahoma Sooners

Detroit Lions (4-13)

I will preface this by saying that I believe whole heartedly that Dan Campbell is the man for the job. The Lions had a great draft this year and are a young developing team. However, this is a Lions offense that lost Matthew Stafford, Marvin Jones Jr., and Kenny Golladay this offseason and those were arguably their three best offensive players. This defense has holes right and left and Jared Goff isn’t taking this pride of Lions anywhere.

Best Fit: QB Sam Howell, North Carolina Tar Heels

Philadelphia Eagles (3-14)

It is hard for me to imagine the Eagles being any good. The front office has fractures that run deep and there are a lot of holes on this team. Jalen Hurts could be good with proper coaching and a good supporting cast but I just don’t think he has that here. The offense could be half decent but this defensive depth chart makes it look like they are trying to lose. The outlook in their division isn’t looking good seeing as they are competing with the explosive Dallas Cowboys, the much improved defensive powerhouse in the N.Y. Giants, and the well coached pass rushing nightmare that is the Washington Football team. Hope for better days in the City of Brotherly Love.

Best Fit: QB Malik Willis, Liberty Flames
