Top Five Free Agents heading into Tampering Period

With Free Agency rapidly approaching, some big names slipped through the cracks of the franchise tag deadline. Those may include Brandon Scherff, Von Miller, and Allen Robinson. The tampering period begins Monday at 12:00 EST, with the official start of the new league year beginning on Wednesday at 4:00 EST. So, let’s take a look at the five best FAs going into Free Agency.

Von Miller

Von Miller has hinted at wanting to return to the Denver Broncos, where he previously won two Super Bowls & countless Pro Bowl’s & All-Pro awards. Denver traded Miller to the Rams this past season in exchange for a second & third round pick, where he totaled five sacks, 31 tackles, and one forced fumble. Miller has proven to be one of the leagues best pass rushers, and will be a great addition to a team that is just a pass rush way. Miller’s projected to command $10.5M per year.

JC Jackson

Jackson really rose to stardom in 2021 where he totaled eight INTs, 23 passes defended, along with a completion % of 49.1. Jackson’s projected annual salary is $20.9M, with his projected salary at five years/$104M. At that price, Jackson narrows down his list of teams pretty drastically. Jackson seems like he’s done in New England, telling NBC Sports Boston’s Phil Perry “I guess they feel like they don’t need me,” Jackson told Perry. “I guess I can’t be that important to them. I know I am, but they’re not showing me.”

Allen Robinson

Robinson’s down year in 2021 can be interpreted a few reasons, but a big one has to be the number of QBs poor Chicago Bears fans had to deal with. The down year consisted of 410 yards & one TD on 38 receptions. Robinson, who is only 28, can still be a vital piece to a playoff team. His projected annual salary is $16.3M with a contract of four years/$65M.

Chandler Jones

Jones, 32, shouldn’t be fooled by his age. This past season, he totaled 10.5 sacks, 41 tackles, and 21 QB hits. Jones can still produce at a high level for the next couple of years, and will be a big addition to a Super Bowl contending team. Jones’ market value is projected at $14.5M per year.

Bobby Wagner

Wagner was unexpectedly released this week after a decade with the team. Wagner totaled 11 INTs, four TDs, 23.5 sacks, and 1,383 tackles, along with a Super Bowl ring, and multiple All-Pro awards. Wagner is expected to have a robust market, with 12 teams having interest in him, including the LA Rams, Baltimore Ravens, and the New England Patriots.
