Top Five Offensive Free Agents (2023)

With the 2023 free agency period just a few days away, we’re taking a look at five offensive free agents and where they fit best. Multiple players already received new deals/franchise tags like Daniel Jones, Saquon Barkley, Josh Jacobs, Tony Pollard, and Lamar Jackson. With those deals already in place, the offensive market has dried up a little bit. But if you need OL or WR you’re in luck, because there’s plenty of depth there still. Let’s take a look at some of them.

Orlando Brown

The Kansas City Chiefs did not extend the franchise tag to Orlando Brown, their top OL they acquired via trade from the Baltimore Ravens, risking him walking in free agency. But, it may not be a bad thing for them either. With players like Jawann Taylor and Mike McGlinchey hitting the market come Monday, the Chiefs have plenty of options to replace him. Last year, the Chiefs placed the franchise tag on Brown, costing them $16.7M and leading the team to their second Super Bowl ring in recent memory. Brown allowed four sacks on 1,133 snaps played last season.

Potential fits: Chicago Bears, Pittsburgh Steelers.

Mike McGlinchey

I told you it was a deep OL market. Perfect for any rebuilding teams that need an OL (looking at you Chicago). McGlinchey seems to be on his way out of San Francisco, with GM John Lynch stating that McGlinchey will likely command more money in free agency than the 49ers could pay. McGlinchey noted that by the time Monday comes around, he should have a deal in place pretty quickly, and be signed on the first day. Last season, McGlinchey allowed six sacks on 1,036 snaps.

Potential fits: Denver Broncos, Houston Texans.

Miles Sanders

Sanders saw an uptick in production last season after rushing for just 754 yards and 0 TDs the season before. Last season, Sanders totaled 1,269 yards and 11 TDs on the ground, paving the way for a decent size contract this upcoming week. Sanders is the perfect back for a team that’s just a RB away from making a push in the playoffs and will come relatively cheap too. Spotrac projects his contract to be two years/$14M, or $7M a year.

Potential fits: Denver Broncos, Detroit Lions.

Odell Beckham Jr

Yes, the OBJ fandom is going into its second off-season, and he recently held a workout in front of 11 teams in Arizona. Those teams included the Buffalo Bills, Carolina Panthers, New York Giants, New England Patriots, LA Rams, Arizona Cardinals, Kansas City Chiefs, Minnesota Vikings, Cleveland Browns, and Baltimore Ravens. But will he actually sign this time? He’s wanted to wait until he’s fully healthy to make a decision, and if he’s smart, would sign before the tampering period begins on Monday. That would give him the first crack at the market before other guys sign and money starts disappearing.

Potential fits: Buffalo Bills, Kansas City Chiefs.

David Montgomery

Montgomery has been consistently good with the Chicago Bears throughout his career. His best season came in 2020 when he totaled 1,070 yards and eight TDs with a 4.3 yard average. Montgomery won’t break the bank in free agency but could find himself getting a nice payday. Spotrac projects his market at $7M per year and a contract at three years/$21M.

Potential fits: Miami Dolphins, Houston Texans.

The tampering period begins on Monday at 12:00 EST.
