Adam Gase is Anything but the Problem with the Dolphins

I understand that Dolphins fans must be frustrated.

When it was announced that Bears offensive coordinator Adam Gase had been named the Dolphins head coach, he was expected to make Miami an offensive power house. However, the Dolphins have just been average since his hiring. Aside from that one playoff appearance, they’ve done nothing. Well, it has to be Gase’s fault, right? Not exactly.

The Dolphins have one of the most dysfunctional owners in the league. There really isn’t any way around it. This team hasn’t been relevant since the Dan Marino days, and even then, they couldn’t build a championship roster around him.

And let’s not forget who he’s trying to work with at quarterback: Ryan Tannehill. And he can’t even stay healthy, which left him Brock Osweiler for several weeks this season and Matt Moore in the playoffs in 2016.

Despite the awful quarterback play, Gase’s Dolphins find themselves in the top ten in the league of giveaway/takeaway ratio with +4. The Dolphins run game also averages a very good 4.4 yards per carry.

What really makes me feel for Gase is all the injuries his team has endured. I remember sitting down one Sunday and watching the Dolphins injury report go scrolling across the bottom of the screen, and it never ended! It just went on and on and on! Prior to week 10, the Phins had 20 players on injury report! 20! And some of their best players are on their, too! Guys like Kiko Alonso, Danny Amendola, Kenyan Drake, Xavien Howard, Cameron Wake, Robert Quinn, Kenny Stills, and DeVante Parker. Oh, and by the way, that big free agent pickup and star slot receiver Albert Wilson, is on injured reserve.

The fact that Gase has kept this team at .500 is simply sorcery, and if the team can get the right trainers in there and if the ownership and GM can get it together, the Phins can be extremely successful under Adam Gase.

I know it must be frustrating, Dolphins fans. But Adam Gase is not the problem.
