Week 5 of the NFL begins on Thursday night with the 3-1 LA Rams traveling to Seattle to take on the 2-2 Seahawks. The Seahawks are coming off a 28-21 win over the 49ers whereas the Rams took their first loss of the season last week falling 37-20 to the Cardinals. On Wednesday morning, Rams head coach Sean McVay announced that all 4 players on the injury report will be playing in Thursday night’s game which is a good sign the Rams will be looking to bounce back from last week’s loss.

The Seahawks on the other hand will be without rookie wideout D’Wayne Eskridge (concussion), meanwhile running back Chris Carson (neck) and linebacker Benson Mayowa (neck) will both be game-time decisions. DK Metcalf (foot) is expected to be in the starting lineup and tight end Gerald Everett who already tested negative once for COVID this week, will be taking another test and if he stays asymptomatic and tests negative, he also will be in the starting lineup.

The LA Rams appeared to be the team to beat in the NFL throughout the first three weeks after beating the Buccaneers 34-24, they had all the momentum going into their home game again the Cardinals. The Rams defense led by all-pro Aaron Donald and Jalen Ramsey gave up 286 yards and 2 touchdowns over the air along with 218 running yards and 2 touchdowns on the ground to the Kyler Murray led Cardinals. On offense, Mathew Stafford had 280 yards and 2 touchdowns along with 1 interception, but the team stalled in the red zone having to settle for 2 field goals and failing a 4th and 1 from the 1-yard line.

The Rams are going into Seattle fully healthy and will need to improve greatly on both sides of the ball if they want to win this game, on offense this team can’t settle for field goals as the Seahawks have put up at least 28 points over the last 4 games which could make this game an offensive shootout. On defense, they need to contain Russell Wilson and prevent him from running and throwing all over the field like Kyler Murray did last week.

The Seattle Seahawks are coming off a win against a good 49ers team, but it wasn’t an amazing game for most of the first half. During the first and second quarter, Russell Wilson was under constant pressure and was sacked 3 times which were the only sacks of the game for the 49ers. In the second half, he turned it around finishing the game with 149 passing yards and 2 touchdowns along with 26 yards and a touchdown on the ground.

Seattle will arguably be playing a better defense than they did last week and keeping Russell Wilson upright will be crucial as last week the 3 sacks he took were all drive-ending sacks. Running back Chris Carson will be a game-time decision for the Seahawks along with tight end Gerald Everett and linebacker Benson Mayowa. Without Chris Carson in the backfield, this offense will most likely lean on its passing game led by Tyler Lockett and DK Metcalf along with Russell Wilsons’ ability to scramble and make plays with his legs.

Ultimately these 2 high-powered offenses are sure to give us one of the best Thursday night games of the season. Mathew Stafford and Russel Wilson will play lights out football, but the Rams defense will find ways to pressure Russell and make him uncomfortable in the pocket that could lead to a game-changing fumble or interception. In the end, I believe this game will come down to a game-winning field goal by the Rams, they now move on to 4-1 and stay 1 game behind the undefeated Cardinals in a division that many see as the best in the league.

34-31 LA Rams Win
